No more Fleets Phospho-Soda prep?! HELP!!

I feel all of your pain...since december, I have had to do 4 preps...ugh...the last one wasn't near as bad as the others...

My second prep was the worst :( I threw up the first 2 glasses and couldn't drink another for over an hour....so as I was on the pot....I started reading message boarding...some great advice, some funny stuff too, and some people I wanted to slap...for intance, "you people are wusses...it wasn't bad...i had no problems"
I literally had to throw the glass I drank out of away...because I couldn't look or drink out of it without gaggin...haha

the helpful stuff I found was as follows:

-darn near freeze the stuff.
-try 6 or 7 oz servings instead of 8...takes longer but I tolerated it better
-buy some of those huge straws like the ones that come in hospital mugs or theme park cups...just got some at the grocery...you can chug faster...i couldn't use smaller straws and I tasted too much on the sipping method...
-mix with different flavors of crystal light...you have to use a lot...i alternated each glass so it wasn't as dreadful...i bought the flavor packs for bottled water....blueberry white tea, peach mango tea, citrus blend, lemonade
-i kept a chaser near by that was strong flavored...and yummy
-chewing a mint gum immeadiately after helped with the nausea
*heard of people alternating with flavored broth as well...can't vouch for it...they were having trouble with the thickness and they sad the warm salty helped?

Things that don't work...
-holding your nose
-i literally purposely burnt my tounge on a hot piece of pizza hoping i wouldn't be able to taste anything after the awful prep before the next...it was totally not worth it nor did it work....very extreme and desperate...i know

i also did a bottle of mag citrate the night before my prep once...it helped me get clear faster and so did low residue diet for a few days

*i was told they discontinued the fleets phos prep because 6 people died of kidney failure...they already new this was risky adn there were certain populations not to use it in...stinkin FDA

last thing...
one of the guys on one of the message boards said that if he won the lottery he was going to donate it all to colon prep research...so, maybe we should all pray that he wins...

I have done the colyte prep four times now in last 18 months. First time I didn't know I was having a colonoscopy until the day before and didn't start until seven o'clock that evening. Took til midnight. Next three times started at four in the afternoon and drank 8 ounces every ten minutes. Didn't know any better. Now for my surgery prep, have to do it again but they tell you to start it at 9 in the morning and drink a glass every half-hour. Should be easier but it has to be done on Mother's Day!

I have another scope scheduled for tomorrow and tonight I am trying the Miralax prep. I am not a fan of gatorade so I am trying it with apple juice. I hope it works okay. I HATE these tests. Actually, the tests aren't that bad, it is the prep that sucks. Wish me luck.

I am 40 years old, and have had 2 colonscopys in the last 20 years.  The last time I did the dulcolax, and fleet phosph soda.  It was awful, made me gag, cry, and act like a baby.  I asked about the pills for the colonoscopy I am supposed to have tomorrow, but my doctor said there was another new kind out there that she would rather do.  I didn't make a big deal out of it, and I had my prescription for Movi Prep filled.  I just got half of my first 8 oz. down, and there is no way I can continue this.  I am so sick.  Have they quit prescribing the pills altogether, or do some doctors just worry about the side effects?  I am afraid that is the only way I am going to be able to do another colonoscopy.

I've never used them but I'm pretty sure they have pills, Visicol.

pico salax is the only way for me.
All the rest is disgusting. I could tolerate the phospha soda, but the pico salax was much better. You don't get the cramps and constant going that you get with the others, but it really cleans you out. It is 2 6oz cups and it doesn't taste completely bad.

Hope you can get some.

My doctor re-scheduled my colonoscopy, and called in a prescription for Osmo-prep.  She said she didn't like to prescribe it, and warned me that it could cause kidney damage if I did not drink enough water.
