Eating plan - please help...

Hi does anybody have a healthy eating plan that they use I am wondering what i should eat as I am all over the place at the moment....

I've altered my diet and it has certainly helped...I avoid all processed foods/beverages, fast-foods, caffeine, animal fats, refined sugar/artificial sweetners (which are pretty much a staple in processed foods/junk foods so it's easy to avoid them), I eat only fresh whole foods and use fresh herbs and spices to flavor my food...I eat alot of extra virgine olive oil (it's so healthy and you should google it to find out the health benefits of it).

thanks, not sure but need to have some menu that I can try for a week or so to give me ideas and inspiration as to what to eat..

Try a Google search on low residue diets. Each Crohnnie is different in what they can tolerate so there isn't "a menu" out there for us. Try keeping a food diary and add new foods one at a time to see what you can tolerate. Dairy, onions, gas forming foods, green leafy things are a few of the things that most Chronnies have trouble with. This is not to say that you will...it's all trial and error unfortunately! I agree with PB4 above...the closer to non-processed foods I stay...the better I do!

I eat a lot of fage Greek yogurt sometimes with canned peaches that are in their natural juice, pecan crackers, soy milk for calcium, and then I'll alternate between flake imitation crab or chicken both cooked the same way--garlic powder(organic), butter for crab or olive oil for chicken, and sea salt cooked in the oven at 450 until brown. It's pretty delicious and easy to digest...
And of course, a lot of water.

Hi Mrs M!

I, like everybody else, have had to dramatically change my diet. For breakfast I usually eat one fried egg and a glass of goats milk. I then eat goat yogurt for a snack, a baked piece of chicken for lunch, and baked fish and some steamed veggies or rice for dinner. I also bought a juicer so I could juice raw veggies and fruits. I started drinking Xango juice a few weeks ago and I think it's helped to better form my poo to solid little logs.

If I'm going to ride my bike in the morning, then I usually eat a hard boiled egg and slice of brown rice bread (vice a fried egg and a glass of goats milk). I stay away from caffeine. I also drink a shot of wheatgrass every now and then, but haven't for a while b/c the taste isn't the best! Ak! Let's just say sometimes I have to force myself to drink wheatgrass!!!

Next week I'm going to document everything I eat on my blog, so check it out if you're curious!

What works for one person may not work for another, so you just have to find what works for you! I'm still figuring it out! I am slowly introducing oatmeal to my diet and am still not sure if it works for me or not. It's a constant trial and error process!!! Good luck!!

Hi I go low residue I love macaroni and mushroom soup mixed together,corn flakes with a banana and toast, chicken with mashed potatoes and a can of carrots and peas,burgers with ketsup and mustard and cheese,lasagna I make that I strain threw a strainer to get rid of the seeds in the sauce,grilled cheese sandwich..easy to cheese things also pudding,ice cream,waffles ..I do not eat yogurt..lol gail

I've tried the blood type diet combination with some success, my blood type is A+. If you know your blood type, I can give you some info.

In 5 years of tinkering with this disease and my diet, my only truism thus far is this:

If I can't pronounce it, I probably shouldn't eat it.

So, yeah. Ditto what PB4 and Mills are onto.

several people in this forum have discussed SCD (specific carbo diet); it seems to work. My GI is strongly believes that diet has no impact whatsoever one way or another. He said I can try whatever I want with diet. He is argument is that once the auto-immune conditions kicks in, then there is no way of predicting what it will do and this varies from person to person. But I have a particular type of crohns that is not responsive to diet and several other medicines. At any rate, you might want to check on SCD.
