acne from Remicade?

I have been receiveing Remicade infusions since July, am now in my first 8 week period, and receiving my next infusion Friday (three days). I have developed what I guess is acne, though I've never had skin problems so I don't really know. I get small pimples around my hair line and most troubling are these patches of large, very sore pimples on both sides of my neck, below my ears. I've had several of these pimples on my neck for over a month now and have treated them topically but they won't go away! Has anyone experienced acne or skin eruptions of this type with Remicade or should I be suspecting something else? I'm on the verge of visiting the dermatologist, but I want to go armed with all the info. I can, if this is related to the Remicade. I'm also on Imuran 100mg daily, which Ive been taking for well over a year and never caused me skin problems before, so I highly suspect the Remi. but need confirmation. Thanks for any insights --

Yes, I have had acne make a fuirious comeback since I started Remicade. My GI doesn't think it is a side effect, but I do, espeically when I get a bad break out after each infusion. I did some research at my school library and found an article in the British Journal of Dermatology about two documented cases of patients developing acne after being treated with Remicade- I can't find a link but it was sometime in the spring of 2007 that it was published. I'm on antibiotics (minocycline) to help the acne, but it hasn't gone away. Good luck.

Seems like a trend to me -- I had no hard eveidence but definitely a gut feeling that there's a connection between my infusions and these new breakouts. Ive wonderd if it had to do with immune system suppression that helps with the intestines, but may not be good for other parts of the body ...
Thanks to all who replied. I hope the conection is discovered and a way to prevent and/or treat the breakouts is made available. Until then, I'll be searching for something to knock out the pimples quickly. I'm 37 with 6 kids and too old to be dealing with this! Doesn't it always seem like what fixes one problem causes another?

i got what i thought was also acne, but started on my legs and eventually went everywhere except my face. after several docs, a infectious disease guy cultured it and found out to be fungal of some sort. still waiting to find out what strain for sure...

No problems here either, been on Remicade for 6 years now.

I too started getting acne after getting remicade . It started on my face and chest and has recently moved to my back. My GI doctor also feels that it is not from the remicade. I don't know why all these GI doctors are in denial.

I have been taking Remicade since November, 2008. I have noticed a major increase in the acne along my hair line, on my face and neck, and on my back and chest. I thought I had read somewhere (that I can't seem to find now) that acne of the face, neck, and back were a side effect of the remicade.
