CT Results...I'm confused

Ok...I got a call from my GI yesterday and was told that I have a cyst on my right ovary and there is fluid in my vagina and cervix.  This is likely to explain why I have been in so much pain the last 2 or so years??!! What?  I got the the female doctor every year and he hasn't mentioned a cyst.  He even checked my hormone levels last year due to the Crohns to see if I was going into ealy menopause. He told me that my small and large intestine didn't look any worse, so that is a good thing.  In fact he said the medication seems to be doing something. He said he was going to forward my CT results to my female doctor and I should call him.  I did so and they told me that he wasn't going to be in until the afternoon, however that the results would get onto his desk.  I still haven't heard from him, however I do know that he could have had baby deliveries. My family tells me that they don't do anything for a cyst because they normally break on their own.  Does that mean I have to live with it?  If so perhaps I will take up my GI's request for pain medication. I am so confused at the moment!!??

During an ovulation cycle last September, I was hurting so badly they thought I had kidney stones passing. When they did the CT scan of the kidneys they saw fluid buildup in my abdomen and sent me for an ultrasound right afterwards. Turned out that when I ovulated the cyst had gotten too large, so when it ruptured there was too much fluid left over and it was just sitting there. They sent me to my OBGYN and we decided to go onto a hormonal birth control to stop ovulation so I wouldn't have to deal with that again. She did say that some women who experience this can experience it over and over again until they no longer ovulate. It hurt really really really badly, but fortuantly the fluid wasn't so much that she had to go in a drain it. It eventually absorbed on it's own. They did prescribe me pain medication for this while I waited on the fluid to absorb. I'd take him up on it and speak with you GYN as soon as you can. Well, I"m considerably older than you and post-menopause, but no one told my post-menopausal ovaries they aren't supposed to develop ovarian cysts. I have a simple ovarian cyst on one ovary we've been watching for some 4-5 years now. It was about 4 cms when we first found it by accident during an abdominal CT scan for Crohn's. It is now almost 8 cms. We've monitored it on a regular basis via pelvic and transvaginal ultrasound. This has been my choice, my ob/gyn wanted to remove it at 4 cms when found. I've had it verified by three good gyn oncos that as long as I have no symptoms and it remains an apparent simple cyst we can just wait and monitor until it reaches 10 cms. At 10 cms things become difficult w/artifacts or possible artifacts at that size.

The key w/mine tho is NO SYMPTOMS! If I had symptoms it would be gone.
