Hi,

I was diagnosed with Crohn in Aug 2007 and am pretty much constanly on a flare up i take 8 pentasa a day, i have tryed the steroids they just make me worse and have just seen my specialist nurse today who is starting me on a liquid diet on Thursday.

I can pretty much deal with the urgency to be goin to the toilet 24/7 the stomach pains the aching. I just cant handle my body image!

I am 21 and just 7 stone,

I'd be intrigued to know this too - I can completely sympathise I am 22 and haven't grown since I was 10 (luckily I was tall my for age then but am still quite small compared to most people I know) my last flare they totally disappeared - my breast bone stuck out further than them, and I was completely disgusted with how I looked I think its the most insecure I've ever been about how I looked. Since I got better I have gained 10lbs and am now an A cup and feel so much better about myself though obviously would like to be bigger. Maybe when you get your Crohn's a little more under control and gain weight they'll get bigger. Like you I'm hoping for late development!

Hi i am the same when i was diagnoised at 13 the doc told my mum that crohns will affect puberty and he was right i never started my periods till i was nearly 18 (not a bad thing) flat chested and used to be called allsorts from kids at school, all through my life i have been self consious about the way i look and have always used padded bras! and very slim so when i had a recent flare i lost weight drastically at 42 and weighing 7 stone i hated going out it looked like i had a eating disorder so i know what you mean you are not alone Bev xx

I did develop early with some things but my chest lol not until Late in High School and even after that more.  The Prednisone (steroids) really take a toll on your development and also hormones which are linked to our immune system have a lot to do with it.  Sometimes it is just genetics if you will develop in the chest area or not :) hang in there.  A big chest isn't everything.  Also, if you took the Prednisone when you were in development stages like I did, I feel like you have to be off of it for quite awhile for your body to adjust.  I started on that when I was 10, right around the time when girls start developing. So yeah, hang in there....

Also, I forgot to add.  Have you tried Remicade? If not, I think you should. It changed my life.  I didn't like Pentasa, it didnt' help, it made me go to the bathroom more.  If you need Remicade info ask your GI specialist or ask me.  I also submitted a post with the Remi Start program for Remicade Assistance. Hang in there, I know it's tough I have been battling this for 28 plus years and finally about 3 years ago I found a GI Specialist that got me on Remicade Infusions. I have had no issues since.

big boobs arent that great ive recently gained 20kgs and gone up a cup size and i hate it! all my high skol life the size of my boobs was constanly commented on by my friends lol now i hate them they are so annoying and bras are so uncomfy i miss my old boobs LOL

I don't think your being shallow at all! Nothing wrong with wanting a healthy looking womanly body, really hope the liquid diet works for you and you'll be feeling happier about yourself soon  :-)

Nope you're not the only one.

You know what, i actually still developed the summer that i turned 20. My boobs got bigger and my hips got wider too. lol

And it has nothing to do with eating more. It just happened from out of nowhere. So i would say keep hope. I didn't get taller but i least i had more curves even though i'm still pretty slim :D

How about not shaving my face every day until I was 35 yrs old.
Where I worked they wouldn't sell me beer until they read my name
tag which read 27yrs of service.("well you must be 21 if your name
tag says 27")And worst of all Dr.s have called my wife ............
You guessed it... MY MOTHER...
I'm so glad IV poles have wheels,so I can run,run.run away.

Hey, at 53 you'll be thankful if anyone thinks you're younger than you are. I have to admit I too am small 5'1" and flat chested. But sports are easier that way. I do add padding whenever I need too. I find most people think they are giving a compliment when they say you're "slim" or "small" (they wish they could get that compliment) so consider the source and ignore them if you have too. Who knows if you ever have to take Pregnisone it may help you gain weight that you might not like?!?!
