So I got this lump.....

Ummm OK so I'm not sure if this is Crohn's or meds related (I'm on methotrexate, remicade and plaquenil) or if its something else altogether but my first thought was to ask you lot here - take it as a compliment! lol.

So I've found this lump near my groin, its pretty much in the top of my thigh abouts where your leg attaches to your groin. Its about the size of a large marble and a little sore if I poke at it but doesn't hurt otherwise, I don't think its close enough to the skin to be something like an ingrown hair, I'm a bit worried about this and doing my best not to freak out as we all know what other word gets associated with the word lump most often, any ideas what it could be? Any help of advice would be great, thanks

Possibly a ganglion cyst? Try putting heat as hot as you can stand a few times a day and see if it helps to either bring it to a head or go away. I don't think its a fistula because of its location.

Might even be a fistula/abcess so definitely get it looked at asap.

My daughter, who doesn't have CD (yet, thank God!) had a lump, just about the same size and place you are describing. Her doctor said it was a swollen lymph node, didn't know why it was swollen, but it went away on its own. But given all of our medical issues, I would determinately get it checked out.

Just to update you finally got to see the doctor today, they gave me a good look over and actually found another lump but think its probably a low grade infection and said not to worry unless its still considerably enlarged in a few weeks or gets bigger so fingers crossed it disappears and is nothing!

I have had several random bumps over the years that sound similar to what you are describing. I have had some that tend to appear in the same location (on my chin and around my jaw usually) but once I had one on my rear and it required a trip to the hospital. My doctor told me that crohn's tends to affect the skin so I assume these are fairly minor infections. However anything near the middle of the body should be immediately checked.
