Pregnancy after Resection?

I had my first resection last week. I am curious if any of you have had successful pregnancies after resection surgeries. It will be awhile before I would even consider it, but I wanted to know.

Hi, hope you will heal well after your surgery !

I myself had my first surgery (appendectomy which revealed I had Crohn´s ) when 32 weeks pregnant with our baby boy. He was born at 40 weeks, classic birth and he just turned 4 last Sunday :-)
When we wanted anothe baby, I had to have a resection due to narrowing-doc was worried I could have a blockage during pregnancy. Had to wait another year after that before we could try for a baby, but luckily I have been in remission and now we have a beautiful, fully breastfed 3-month-old girl.

Good luck to you, take your time recovering and hope you will feel well and have a baby when the time comes !

I didn't have a resection, but recently had a proctosigmoid colectomy. I now have a stoma. My surgeon said that I could get pregnant. I need to obviously wait. I'm presuming a good 6 months for my body to get back to where it is. That said, you should be fine. Check with your surgeon and also when you do get pregnant, get with a high risk OB. You might even set up a pre-pregnancy appt with your high risk OB to go over the risks and when it is ideal to get pg again.

I had two children following my first resection (20 inches of small/large removed) .  The first was born 3 years later; the second 3 1/2 years after the first.  No complications- not high risk-perfect pregnancies!
