Humira + belly reactions

Hey everybody :) I haven't been here for a couple of weeks because I was busy.

But now I'm faced with a problem. I have been having a small rash on my belly every time I get Humira so I just wanted to ask you if you've had the same problems...well those of you on Humira hehe.

Every time I get Humira it's worse. Yesterday it started itching a lot and then I got 5 tiny so to say "balloons" around the shot area and then it calmed down but remained reddish.

I'm not trying to make a big deal out of this but my doctor can't give me steroids because it's really not a big issue but at the same time it's not supposed to happen...

I also get a welt where my injection site is. Usually lasts about 2-3 days.

well, i developed psoriasis in and around my belly button after i started the shots....have no idea if it's connected. doesn't make sense since humira is FOR psoriasis, but tnf-blockers can also induce psoriasis in some patients

My first couple months I had small quarter sized red rash around injection that went away after 2-3 days.  But now nothing.  I have notice however a few psoriasis spots on my arms and head recently since being moved to the 1x week injections.  Didn't think much about it till reading this post.  Will have to ask my doctor.

Hey, sorry for not replying two months ago :( I've been really busy with college.

Nope, haven't tried the injections on the thigh. I've been given steroids on the day of the application for about 8 weeks now and it just postponed the reaction for a few hours. It's getting worse each time I get Humira despite steroids and yesterday it was itching me all day long. Shouldn't it go away with taking steroids? What do you guys think? I've read somewhere that people who had this kind of reaction had to stop taking Humira because it eventually spread to their entire belly and hurt for days.

Any info would be helpful! I don't have a problem dealing with this, it's no big deal...but I'm worried if it's going to get so bad that I'll have to quit taking it and it's helping me!

Have you tried the injections on the thigh instead of the belly? If so, did you get the same reaction?

Hi I always inject my humira in my thigh and I have no problems.

Alright, my first post ever!

I had a (sub)total colectomy about a year and a half ago, and then went from ileostomy to ileoanal anastomosis last September. I am now using Humira to keep the CD in check, because if the CD comes back, I'm permanently with a bag :(

To contribute to the post... ;) I've been taking it in the upper thigh area, and haven't had any issues as far as swelling, etc. As long as I'm careful not to hit a blood vessel, I typically don't experience much pain other than some sharp pressure. I'd recommend trying to move from tummy to thigh... And if you're using the pens, if my memory serves me correctly, you should be shooting at a 90° angle, whereas you tilt a bit when using the needles. I haven't tried needles, but I'm very comfortable with the pens :)
