Yes, apparently we have nothing to worry about
because according to one of my nurses the last time I was hospitalized for my Crohns bleeding out, that is the cure.
I went to the ER because I had passed out from blood loss. This was my first experience in an adult hospital and my mom couldnt stay at night with me because I was sharing a room. Well I was on a clear liquid diet, just had a blood transfusion and was on IV pred(100 mg every 6 hours); Flagyl: Cipro and Dilaudid(for pain) I was getting the pain meds as soon as I could because I was hurting so bad. I could have the Dilaudid every 6 hours and I had gotten it right before I went to bed and woke up at about 1130 in severe pain again, still bleeding alot. So I called the nurse in and she was EXTREMELY RUDE, are you sure you need the Dilauded because its night time and you can just go back to sleep without it, I could give you some Tylenol....I was in tears and hurting VERY BAD!!! So I was like no, I am not going to be able to go back to sleep with just some Tylenol, the pain is too bad. So.......she said well my husband has Crohns and when he isnt feeling well or is hurting he just eats some soda crackers and drinks some ginger ale and the pain goes away, would you like me to get you some?
I could not believe it. I was so upset. People just amaze me. Am I the only one who has experiences with people who "know someone who has an extremely light case of Crohns" and the assume that everyone elses is the same and we are just "overreacting"........????
