humira and fatigue???

Hello all. Just finished my last injection of my starter kit of humira. Yes, I do them myself,like other folks. No problem there. I am just exausted. Slept 3 hours !! I feel weak as a kitten. Is this true for others??? Other than that, I have tolerated the whole 6 injections with only the normal side effects. Thanks for any input.

Um today is a not to good day...I just want to sleep...been that way since I took my shot on Friday...been on it since April

Hi!

I'm just got my starter kit of Humira in the mail today. Still waiting to start it. But spoke to the nurse and my doc, and other people who's on it. They have said it's very normal to feel tired even for a few days after your first 4 shots. Then in 2 weeks you'll do 2 shots.. you'll feel less tired. then once you get to your 1 shot every 2 weeks (assuming your doing every 2 weeks) you'll start to feel normal and not so tired.

I've been on humira for 4 months now...took about 3 months for it to really start working so don't give up if you don't feel better right away...I still feel fatigued a day or so after the shots and tend to now get injection site reactions (swelling around the area)...but it's no big deal, I put ice on it and its fine the next day...hope it works for you all!...debbie

I'm glad your starting to feel a relief, did you also have the arthritis pains, or just the CD? I'm wondering, because I have the arthritis pain very bad and was wondering when someone felt a relieft. I was on remicade before this. It's been 6 weeks since my last infusion. I'm starting to feel it leaving my body as last night the arthritis pain wasn't killing to me to the point of needing a pain killer that hardly works anyways.

I was on Humira for three (wonderful) years. I started taking it before you did the loading dose thing. So, I just started with one shot and took another one every two weeks. I would feel tired/sleepy for about 12 - 18 hours following the shot. I had to take Benadryl before each shot so I just figured it was the combination of the two. I figured out that it was best for me to take it on a night when I could sleep in the next day.

My Crohn's symptoms started going away after about 3 months and by 4 months were gone. I had very bad arthritis pain as well and that went away too!

This thread has actually helped me tremendously. As I have been on Humira for 3 months and I do feel better but not 100%. I thought that this would be the extent of the drugs effect, but it sounds like the longer I am on it the better it will get.
Generally I feel pretty good, I just cant seem to have a solid stool anymore. They are always loose. I asked my GI and he said that that isnt an issue as Im only going 2 to 3 times a day and Im not loosing weight and there isnt any pain...

Thanks for the replies. I would hate to think that I was becomming a wimp,dut to the fatigue. Had 3 hours with my grandkids this morning that has wiped me out. The oldest will be back tonight, to stay for a couple of days. This old gal better put a pot of coffee on. My daddy said that the prettiest thing a girl could put on...... is a smile. So............., smile I shall. Again, thanks for your support.

The trick I've found is to take my Humira late in the evening, around 9 or 10. Then I can just go to bed and sleep through most of the fatigue and not lose a day. I do feel it a bit the next day, but it's not bad. Once you get off the starter pack, you'll have an easier time!

Thanks! I was thinking the exact same thing (thinking about how I would like to return to work sometime soon) so when I did I wouldn't have to lose a day.

You have to take the humira every second week at the same time right?

Can someone tell me exactly how the first day of Humira will go? so I can prepare myself.
