Vacation: Preventative Meds?

So it is summer time now and im not feeling too great with my crohn's. I probably have a stricture going on and some days I have barely any appetite. Anyways, I did have this road trip planned (approx 10 days long), and I thought I could manage, but now I'm not as confident due to a recent flare up.  So I am currently thinking of asking  my family doctor for a short course of prednisone to sort of treat my crohn's preventatively, something like 3-5 days worth of like 30-40mg/day, which i would take during the first 5 days of the vacation.  I know prednisone has helped my symptoms in the past, as I've taken it for about 5 days with no taper. I currently take entocort, which just gets me thru daily living right now, along with remicade and methotrexate. Have any of you out there done something similar for planned trips or vacations? I don't want to force this upon my family doctor, and I'm new to my GI doctor.

Yeah i suppose you wouldn't want to be on a road trip and get blocked up...Be careful.

I got married in Jamaica last October, right after I was dx with RA on top of my CD. I asked for a pred burst pack down with me. And thank golly I did, I would have never made it down that isle. When I got down there the humidity sent my body into a tizzy, I was very stiff and swollen, and my gut was very angry. It was a life saver.

I'm sure glad someone wrote about going on vacation because I will be going on vacation in Sept. to mexico for a week an all inclusive resort. I want to know if anyone drinks socially and if they had any bad reactions. I know you are not supose to drink on the meds. I have drank coconut rum/orange juice/pineapple juice afew times with out problems but I skipped my meds. Do you think I'll be setting myself up for a good one if I drink socially. I also like to have a draft beer every now in then. Do you all think I'll get my self in a huge mess while on my vacation? We look forward to our vacation every year and this is the only time we drank alittle its apart of the fun while on vacation. Does anyone drink alittle every now and then and if they do how does this effect them. You would think I'm rolling the dise here its pretty much a gamble. Some times I think it does good with the bloating and constipation. I'll ask the Dr. about this because I know he asked about achol and I said just a social drinker. I guess I'm the crazy one here!
