God Bless the ignorant!

I just got out of the hospital last night. Another wonderful flare that sent to the ER over the weekend. I went to give my boss my return to work slip. She looks and me and says" so what are they gonna do? Is this just gonna keep happening?"

I sure wish I knew the answer to that question. I have been rather lucky for awhile.

I'm having issues breathing right now. Don't know what that's about.

I decided to take off a few more days before I left her office. I know peeps don't understand something they can't see, but do they really think this is fun for us? Like I want to spend my life in a hospital bed?

Ugh, "What are they gonna do?". Really, like we wouldn't want some magical pill that made sure this didn't keep happening. Because we just love hospital stays. That kind of thing just drives me bonkers.

Glad your out of the hospital, I hope your having a speedy recovery from that flare.

I'm felling a little better this afternoon. I'm not real fond of struggling to breathe! They didn't say anything about me bein anemic this time but I was last month.

They want me to start the test crap again. Both scopes, Gotta find a GI I like first. Lost my GI in the divorce! lol

It takes three weeks for everything to be completely cleared out of your system. I know plenty of people who aren't sick with IBD that knew that already. Oh, ignorance...

Cleo it 's good to see you back again. Sorry to hear you are still having problems. Maybe someone needs to inform your boss that this is a CHRONIC disease and yes it will keep happening. I bet when she gets a sniffle everyone in the office has to hear about it.......

I don't know your boss, so I don't know if this would be helpful, but maybe you can get some literature from the Crohn's foundation (ccfa.org) and give it to your boss. I certainly didn't understand much about the disease before I was diagnosed. Maybe with a little education, your boss would be more understanding.

I am sorry for your problems.

And sometimes it is no fun having Disease that no one can see, but when you are having a good day I think god for not looking like the sickest person in the world.
If the way I feel inside would show up on my outside I would be in the hospital right now :P

I think it is a good thing to tell people to go to wikipedia and read about your disease, it helped a lot of my friends understand better what I am going through.

What?! Your boss is a nurse and is that ignorant? That's amazing, you'd think someone in the medical field would be more understanding since they are supposed to know about the disease and how unpredictable it can be. Some of the people at my work are really bad too, right now my boss is my father so I'm lucky in that aspect, because he's supportive and goes with me to appointments even. However, I also do work in another department and my "boss" for that department loves to tell me I'd be fine if I would just drink teas and take supplements. She is convinced medications don't do anything, and I'd feel fine if I just did what she said. I know people have had success with diets and stuff, but I really don't believe that there's some magic cure or something. On top of that, when she knows I'm not feeling well, she pawns her work off on me and leaves early. I love it. Next month I won't be reporting to my father anymore, but my new boss' ex husband has Crohn's, so she is also very understanding when it comes to me not feeling well. I hit the jackpot I guess, but I get really frustrated with how ignorant some people can be, especially when they already know what the disease is.

I told a friend of mine that my Crohns was mild. She looked at me in pure shock and said "Oh my gosh, if you are mild, what is severe like?" I told her, you don't want to know.

Cleo, nice to see you again, and so sorry about your insensitive boss. As I started to read your post I remembered that I had terrible problems breathing when I was extremely anemic and needed two rounds of iron shots. Luckily that did the trick, and the only time I've been a little anemic since then is when they increased my Imuran to 250 mg. I'm off it now pending new blood tests, will see the doctor in a week or so.

I loved the hemotologist I saw that first time. He said "We can fix this," and they did. I am praying that you find out what's causing this and it can be fixed for you, too.

I was really anemic when i was pregnant i had the problem breathing..check with your GI...
