My husband had a colonoscopy on Wednesday. He starting prepping on Tuesday with Osmo Prep- of course, it took forever to start working, but by the time of the colonoscopy the next morning, everything had run it's course, and all went well. Except he wasn't sedated at all when he went in for hte scope, which he is upset about
.. because he felt everything.
Another story...
anyways, the doctor was concerned about an area on the cecum that looked like a scratch- a fairly long scratch. Part of the cecum, ar ound the edge was swollen and reddened- or inflammed as he called it. But he said that the appendix and the cecum, or the appendix where the cecum adjoins sto was extensively swollen.
Now, he was not sure why, and he said you generally do n't see the appendix- he said it could be a tumor, or a cyst, he did numerous biopsies- and still is checking for crohn's.
That was on Wednesday. On Friday, he went and did he ct scan- to c heck his cecum, and appendix- the ct scan involved a contrast that he had to drink (not barium) and an injectable dye, as well.
He has no pain, but is run down, like normal..... howeve,r the thing that concerns me the most, is that he has not had a bowel movement at all since Wednesday after the colonscopy.
He had lots of gas Wednesday and Thursday. He has eated plenty. They told him to eat a high fiber diet, because they found he does have some diverticulosis, and we've started that.. but still no bowel movement.
A few questions... wouldn't being constipated rule out crohn's? I mean.... he has flare ups of intense diarrheah= meaning, when he has a flare up, they last for 2-8 days and he'll have 10-20 bouts of diarrheah those days, and then he'll go back to normal...but he has never had this constipation.
He doesn't hurt, and he doesn't feel like he has to go, either.. so I don't know what to think.. i'm at a loss... anyone deal with anything similar.
