your bowel is full and its attempting to evacuate. Sometimes I remove my bag and go into shower, when it gets that bad. alternatively you can get a laying position if this allows you to relax your bowel, this is hard when it hurts so, and let normal peristalsis take over to do the bm. It can be painful if you have alot of fluid or a some inflammed areas around stoma, or a piece of stool that is trying to pass. you can walk till it gets rid of the problem area, but I like the shower to get my mind off it. It mite take awhile if you feel the bowel area is hard and full, so removing the bag can help. you posted on the crohns forum. How long have you had the stoma?

about the same for me. mabe its getting a bit of gut leak on bottom thats what i think is for me or small granuloma interior that is slowing it to different direction. I get this back up from food as well as for alot of fluid, so it seems yur on the harder stool side than the fluid but it happens for fluid too where the bowel kinda freezes up. Frankly, I eat something to force it. I also prepare a new bag with paste and do the shower thing,, because alot of times the swelling causes a leak in the adhesive when this happens anyways. Hope it passes. I have that burning issue too. I was looking for the creams because they don't give anything that works. Perhaps something like the glycerol trinitrate oitment but I never tried it. My surgeon says the exterior granulomas are part of healing but i feel interior pressure as well like you do with the pain. I tried a antihistamine too to dry things out a bit, but i'm sure you have your own lil remedies.

I'm back.... stoma is a little happier. Mega dose of pred to reduce the inflamation. By the time I got there the area around the stoma was so distended it looked like I had a softball under my shirt! They did some xrays.... said looks like a "narrowing", the inflamation was obvious, but they weren't real concerned because I don't have a fever "yet" and I'm not vomiting so take steroids to get me thru till I see the surgeon next week. I have a love hate relationship with that stuff. It works fast and very well for me. But we all knowthe long term may not be so pretty!

I feel like I'm on speed....got sooooo much done at home since I got back! He told me to not work till Mon. Ican't do that financially so I guess I will just grin and bear it. we all do what we gotta do.

Crohnielass.. I am told it can be reversed but the surgeon made some noises about having to do 2 surgeries, one first to repair some damage to the rectum before the resection. HAve a consultation on Tues. Guess I'll see what his attitude is then. He just wasn't real receptive a couple years ago!
