 Anyone else have trouble if they eat oreos ? I just figured this out,,,duhhhhh. I end up with ,,, not wanting to be too graphic,,,what looks like coffee grounds. Always upsets my old gut . I cant beleive I didn't figure this out sooner.

I ate two cookies yesterday and wham, got punched in the gut today. Then I started the old rusty wheels in my noggin turning and ,, well I'll be kiss my go to heck,,the little light went off  that said,, " stupid, you have this trouble every time you eat one of those blankety blank cookies. "   So I now have to add them to the list with South beach diet bars, Glucerna bars, and dont even say granola,,, thats cattle feed  or saw dust, I'm not sure....Any suggestions ???? I need a cookie...

Some organic sections actually make some pretty good cookies. I think they're 'Pamela's' brand or something along those lines. Shortbread cookies are okay sometimes for me. Sometimes not...
I don't know. It doesn't seem like desserts are ever reliable. You'll be fine one time, and then the next they betray you mad

I thought that this was an update on the "coconut macaroons cure Crohn's" idea. Speaking of which, that might be an alternative... You might be better off to make them yourself though - using an SCD legal recipe. It's usually the sugar and flour that cause the problems and cookies are mostly sugar and flour.

I don't have problems with oreo cookies cuz I hate them so I don't eat them.

I think the coconut fiber would be difficult to digest though. I can't tolerate them because of it :/ I don't know about everyone else.

They are my very favorite cookie, especially when you dunk them in milk. I now eat ginger snaps. They have a lot of flavor and seem to be gentle on my gut. But I do miss my Oreos.

Maybe if you just eat the middle? But that is the best tasting and the worst for you part of the cookie.
I would have to look the at the diabetic section (because you were dx with diabetes right? p.s. did you file for that with the VA?, especially since that is one of the diseases for agent orange)  of my grocery store. But those chessmen ones are fairly safe for me.

Yep MMMNAVY, not good for my diabetes to have too many oreo middles. Sugar cookies are a no no too. My wife makes good cookies with splinda but I hate to have her baking all the time. The best cookie in the world though is one we make at Christmas. Its an old recipe handed down from my dads family. Raisins (regulor and golden), dates , dried figs, fig preserves, almonds, pecans, walnuts all ground up for a filling and baked in a short bread cookie crust. We make about 100 of these at a time and freeze what we dont eat or give as gifts, so we can have a few during the year. My Grandmother called these Kookies.
Yes , sometimes they tear my old gut up but I take my chances. I cant pass them up. Life is too short.

You like cookies huh? When you find one that works for Crohns and Diabetes let me know! I'm a 3 o'clocker coffee and cookie hour girl. Well used to be! now more like plain coffee and smell the cookies....lol

I'm in my second week of eating healthy for Diabetes and my gut is killing me! Been eating healthy and now my Crohns is acting up...figures. Cried myself to sleep last night cuz' I don't know what to eat besides, fish and chicken, blah. I've been trying to sneak salads in...and a little peanut butter. Not workin'.

Got my sugars down to 125 in the morning after a fast ...but today went under 70 and was a big grump! My poor husband. No matter what I do..he's like do you feel o.k.!  I hope they balance out soon! 

Back to the cookie situation...do you like pumpkin? I've been thinking about trying to make some glutenfree/pumpkin cookies. I figure with all the spices it might jazz it up and then...possible putting some type of chocolate in it...maybe dark...I'll keep you posted! I love to cook and bake... so I'll do some experiementing! I don't like using splenda, or any other sugar-free stuff...well I try not to..that stuff is wicked on a body!

By the way, could you post that dried fig and nut recipe you said you guys make for Christmas

that would be great..sounds fabulous!

I've been trying to stay away from sweets myself lately because sugar seems to wreck me, especially chocolate. Maybe that's what's doing it to you :( One of my professors mentioned the macaroon cookie thing and I figured...hey it's an excuse to eat cookies! Then I realized that the coconut was tearing up my fistula tract lol...so I've given up on all forms of cookies.

I hope you can find the willpower to stay away from those darned Oreos lol.

The only cookies that work for me--and I'm seriously addicted to them lately--are Stella D'Oro Anisette Biscotti. They're pretty low in calories. They don't have (the dreaded) nuts of any kind. They're very good with hot liquids. They're crunchy initially and then sort of melt down into a paste in your mouth. And they have a mild anisette flavor that seems to settle my stomach. They can be hard to find once you leave the eastern seaboard (there's only one market that carries them in the New Orleans area, for example), but you can even order them from amazon.com if you're desperate--which I've occasionally been.

Pamela's cookies are gluten free. They're high calorie and very rich, but during the four months that my former doctor thought I had celiac disease, they were a big and very satisfying part of my diet. I don't eat them anymore, though.

Yes oreos give me trouble too. And, I know this sounds weird, but I think eating oreos triggered my labor with both my kids. Not sure I can back it up with any science but it is a strange coincidence.

I'm not really a cookie girl, which is weird cause I am famous for my cookies. My husband HAS to have his cookies and I have been making him at least one batch of cookies a week for the last 24+ years. He has 6 cookies every day after lunch and 6 cookies after dinner. In the 30 years I have known him he has gained 10 pounds, so not fair. If he notices his pants getting a bit tight he cuts back to 4 cookies at each meal, 3 days later, everything is back to normal.

When he's had a particularly heavy dinner, his "light" dessert is oreos. Once in a while I will have one or two. I will have to see if I notice that they bother me. Now I am curious.

I was going to suggest a meringue type cookie, but that probably wouldn't work down in the bayou. Too humid. I will have to think on this and see if I can come up with something, maybe something more fruit based.

Anything chocolate bothers my gut. I don't know what it is.
And I'm famous for my macaroons; I have to bring them to every family holiday, but can't eat them myself becaue the coconut is too fibrous. Peanut butter bothers me, too. (figures that Reese Cups are my favorite thing in the world! LOL)

Nope, I think oreos agree with me, unfortunately. We eat them a lot too! They make golden oreos that are good and not chocolate, but alas, they have a calories too.

I don't know if you have a Trader Joe's in your area but they make an oreo type cookie that's better than the "Oreo" (personal opinion) and it hasn't bothered me yet!

How about the vanilla oreos? The yellow cookie/choc filling version. I actually prefer them to the original oreo now and for some reason they taste similar to me.

Yes, oreos tear my guts up. Dont know why and its one of my favorite cookies. My cousin had IBD and says the same thing. Weird huh.
