Eye infections and Crohns?

Does anyone get pink eye or any type of eye infections with there crohn's? I hear that the two can be linked. I have had a horrible eye infection for over a week now that is not getting any better, I have had eye drops and now am on oral antibiotics. Just wondering if it could be the Crohns. Thanks.

Episcleritis, scleritis, and uveitis can be extra intestinal manifestations of crohn's disease, there are skin issues that are also related to crohn's (extra intestinal manifestations), as well as bone and joint issues.

they blamed my iritis on Crohn's. Couldn't explain it otherwise.

General practice doc told me I had pink eye only to find out from an optomotrist it was in fact Crohns flare up! Treated with steroids (oral) and eye antibiotics. Cleared up after a few days. See an optomitrist about this. Good luck! Tony

I just went through this over the past two weeks. Thought I had pink eye. Found out it was Crohn's and had to use steroid and antibiotic eye drops. My eyes are much better now.

Yes I get this and treat it with steroid drops and its always due to the Crohn's.

dealing with it now, 2nd yr in a row at this time with major eye issues.  suppose to stop antibiotic/steriod today, but, eyes continue to be very watery/itchy.  might have to call the doc again!  i only see 1/4 of 20/20 vision without glasses/contacts; with asst I only see 1/2 20/20, legally blind in left eye.  it is very frustrating when u can't see good, I keep buying the wrong stuff at the store cuz I don't see good.  (yes hubby drives me everywhere) don't trust my vision & all meds I'm on.

Do you guys get the swollen glands by your ear and in your neck also with the eye infections? Thanks

I just came back from the eye doctor, I had casually mentioned that I had yet another eye infection on my cruise last month and that I have Crohn's, my doctor knew immediately there was a connection and gave me a prescription for Pataday. After 18 years with Crohn's, this was news to me.

I have been lucky with the eye problems I guess. My Crohn's has been mostly active for the past 20 years so I would have thought that I would have had this happen. I am glad it hasn't. I am sorry for those of you that have had it. Just another great thing about having Crohn's huh?
