OK, really embarrassing, but I am wondering if this has anything to do with Crohn's. I occasionally develop these, I guess you would call them cysts, on my vaginal area. They are almost like larger zits that fill up with pus and then eventually drain. Sorry, this is seriously gross, but I am wondering if this has anything to do with Crohn's. Does anyone else experience this? Also, right before I was diagnosed, I had a Bartholian cyst, and I am wondering if that is related as well.

Sounds like it could be an abcess...some women get recto-vaginal fistulas that start with an abcess, you really should have your GI check you out down there.

I would think about a dermitologist too. My experience was I about the time I started getting sick I also got hiddradinis suppertiva (sp?).  Started about pea size and have had one as big a quarter.  Found antibactical soap (I was using dove when it started) helps.

I actually get those a lot.  Usually around the time of my period.  They are actually pretty painful when I try to pop them but otherwise don't bother me.  They are about the size of a dime, I get them right between where my leg and vagina meet, also back towards my butt cheeks (lol). When I get them they usually last about a week then just disapear a day or 2 after I pop them.  At first I thought it might have been an STD, so I got checked and I was clean. I haven't spoken to my doc about it though.

MAG - you sound like me, I get them right where my leg & vagina meet too. I get cysts under the skin, I used to pop them but they hurt a lot when I do so I just left the last one I got, haha. Definitely not an STD because they are above the skin (I was worried like you and got checked anyway though). Are the ones you guys get under the skin too, or above? I have no idea what they are, I've always been curious if it's related to Crohn's or if they're just cysts from blocked sweat glands or something (apparently very common). I get them a lot, it seems like whenever I get rid of one, another pops up pretty quickly after! Mine aren't very big usually, about pea-sized (maybe a bit bigger), but I've had some that were substantially larger.

Mine are always above the skin, but they never get a head or anything like that.  It litterally takes my breath away to pop them, so lately I've just been letting them go and they go away on their own within a week.  Im wondering if maybe they are some sort of very small abscess....I do tend to get them in the same spots most of the time, but honestly they don't bother me  enough for me to be worried about them.

I had one too, I thought it was just a cyst but after a bit it kept growing and finally got to a point I could pop it and I basically spent two years having the thing drain off and on before it finally just closed....and yeah, it was basically beside my vaginal area between there and my leg kind of how some others have said too...so I guess yep, your not alone. Your GI can look and tell you, your family doc or a gyno...at times I think all three had looked at mine.

I've actually had a few of these. Some go away on their own but i usually get checked by the gyn, because about a year ago i had a bartholins abscess that had to be lanced in office-literally the worst pain i have ever felt! but i have had some after that. i've been told it was like a vaginal acne and given bactrim (antibiotic) along with hot compresses or sitz bath it usually clears up. It starts getting serious when it keeps growing and it really painful to touch, then you should see the doc, (thats what happened with the bartholins). But about over a month ago I had another little cyst pop up and i went to the gyn and she said it was a sebaceous cyst that i needed to put hot compresses on. I was also given another antibiotic. It eventually came to a head and popped with a little squeezing. She did tell me though that since i had crohn's i may be more apt to develop these cysts. ahhhh totally sucks!! She said to just keep the area clean, cotton underwear and if its near the bikini line sometimes wearing those boyshorts underwear might help since there wont be so much friction. When in doubt tho always get checked by the doc! I hoped this helped some!!!

I think Randy is right and they are just bartholin cysts. I get them occasional too much like Mag102886 described. I don't really think they are Crohn related. Just a girl problem. JMHO

Well, it's good to know I'm not the only one! Thanks for your input. I don't know if all of mine are Bartholin cysts, because they aren't always in that same area.

I was just wondering if they were Crohn's related, because of the possibility that your immune system is overreacting.

I get them too. I had some biopsied by the Mayo Clinic and was told that you can get them anywhere. Mainly vagina, armpits
and face. They are related to Crohns. Sorry don't have report on hand for medical term.
Hot compress helps them too.

Better to have them South than in the visible north because I had a few break out on my face once and these
just turned into eye-balls NO KIDDING. Someone asked me if I had AIDs. How humiliating. It made me take
a test and Thank goodness no AIDS but how do we get others to understand?

I used to get "cystic acne" on my face, and after I got diagnosed, I wondered if it was Crohn's related. Is that what you're talking about on your face? After my diagnosis, I just made the connection that maybe it is an overreaction of the immune system, because they were definitely not normal zits.
