Wow...I must be in one of those good places today because I can think of a few positives, although some are odd.
*I had a will much sooner than most of friends (when your intestines rupture and you wait 3 days to go to the hospital you realize that being prepared ahead of time is a smart thing)
*Speaking of being prepared ahead of time...because of CD I am always ready ahead of time for things just in case. This helps make up for a husband who believes in waiting until the last minute then uh oh can't find it, make it or do it in time. Or is it that I am just anal retentive about not being anal retentive enough
*I am better able to help my friend who is having food issues during cancer treatment
*I can be an advocate in my job for those with chronic health issues and for those who don't understand CD (I work in health insurance premium rating). I also can do my job better because I really understand a benefit plan and its loopholes.
*I am able to look at friends with celiac and say "wow I thought my dietary limitations stunk"
The one thing I can't say is the weight loss....Of all the Cd side effects, I can't get the one I want (sarcasm here as I understand it is not the greatest to be too thin either). When I was little, I did not wear a girls size 6. I wore the 6x. This being fat with CD makes for a difficult time proving the illness....but it makes it easier for people to believe when I say that I can't eat 99% of fruits and vegetables.
