Remicade advice please?!?!?!?

Hello ALL!

I just discovered this site and can't log off!  Great forum!  I was diagnosed with Crohns just this January and have not been having any luck so far.  I have already had one surgery and might need a second after 6mp failing to work for me.  I start Remicade infusions soon and want some adive from anyone who has been through it already.  I read some people have no problems and others describe it as hell!  Please let me know what I can expect.  Thank you people, LOVE THE SITE!

Nearly 7 years ago my doctors were considering giving me an operation which would have left me with an ostomy, on the day I went in to discuss the surgery they'd literally just been given a budget for remicade, they tried it as an eleventh hour sort of thing, within a a week or so my inflammation had pretty much disappeared and I was in remission for two years. Since then I get one dose with each flare up, each infusion keeps me in remission anywhere from 6 months - 3 years. It really was a lifesaver for me and I am so so lucky it came available just in time for me! I think if your facing surgery its definitely worth a shot, sure it works differently for different people but you could be one of the people it works great for, theres always that chance too!

Remicade has given me my life back! Prior to getting on Remicade my body was steroid dependent. 6-MP didn't work for me either.

Remicade did not work for me the first year I was on it. My doc decided to double my dosage and that seemed to do the trick! I have now been in remission for almost a year (next week)! I was so sick that I never thought I would reach full remission, let alone almost a year. There was a time in life where I thought my dog was going to out live me!

Just had my second dose yesterday. Night and day difference from the days before the first dose. It's only been two weeks but I'm closer to remission than ever before.

I've been on Remicade for over 6 years. It has allowed me to live a great life. I have been able to have 2 kids and am still feeling great. I just hope I can still feel this great for a lot longer...so scared it will stop.
