The nausea will not end!!

Hi! Well, I've had lots of nausea in the past with my Crohn's, off and on, and especially during flares, but this is new for me. I have been constantly nauseous now for two weeks almost straight, without any other flare-like symptoms... and no, I'm not pregnant, I promise! It just won't end, and I can't get any relief at all, I assume it's related somehow, but don't really know at this point if I should treat it like a flare or what to do??? Anyone have thoughts or experience with this? Any help would be appreciated as I am about to tear out my hair, any smells or foods just really are making me sick. I was vomiting in the earlier stages, but that has passed....

That was like me in january/february! I found that once I had avoided eating because of feeling sick, I felt sick from not eating. Quite the vicious cycle for me... gravol/ginger and ginger peppermint tea have always worked pretty well when I have nausea. I always felt a tiny bit better once I got some calories in me, even if it was just some boost as well. Good luck/feel better!

Do you have any anti-nausea meds? If not ask for some. I had a similar issue a few years ago. It turned out I was having repeated bouts of gastritis and duodentis. The only thing that made it bearable was taking anti nausea meds, zofran specifically. They never did figure out what the cause was, and it still happens sometimes. But at least now I can spot the signs earlier and stop eating for a few days. That seems to head of the worst of it. I stick to really salty broth (seems to be what I crave when it happens) and other liquids for a few days and then things clear up. I think it has to do with the CD, the doctors think it has to do with the CD, but they couldn't prove it.

Thanks to all who answered, I really appreciate the help.... I do take ginger sometimes, it helps a bit, and usually zofran works, but not this time. I guess I just have to wait it out a bit more, it's always comforting though to hear your stories, and know I'm not alone, so thank you.

If the Zofran isn't enough, you may need to add in another anti-nausea med at off times. I have had to do that. My insurance doesn't like to pay for Zofran, so I have Tigan to use when things aren't too bad. When things are at their worst, I will take the Zofran, then if an hour or so later it still not any better, I will take a Tigan.

The other things that have helped me are sipping broth all day, and saltine crackers with just a little smear of butter. The salt in the broth and the cracker seem to help, and something about the combo of the cracker, salt, butter(fat) seems to help settle things down. Just a few crackers to help absorb your stomach acids. Plus on a TMI front, if they don't stay down, they are all pretty bland coming back up.
