Pentasa not digesting?

So I have been on entocort for about two months to help get me out of a flare and two weeks ago they decided to try pentasa (which hasn't worked in the past) in an effort to avoid 6mp and since starting it I keep having lots of tiny white bead looking things in my poo and I broke open one of the pentasa capsules and it is the stuff inside of it that is coming out. I was wondering if anyone else has the same thing or if maybe it might mean they are not digesting?

Pentasa and Asacol are formulated to be released lower in the intestinal tract. The white beads are what contain the medication. The medication is released from the bead leaving the outer shell. That is what you are most likely seeing.

That said, it is possible to pass medications both time released and "regular" without then delivering the medication. I have passed two different medications intact. When I was having severe diarrhea, over 20 times, a day, I also experienced loss of bowel control. I once found my blood pressure medication in my underwear about 6 hours after I took it,

I used to take a time released asthma medication. I often would see it in my stool. The doctor assured me that I was seeing the shell of the medication. However, my asthma was getting worse so I decided to investigate. I fished out the pill the next time I saw it and broke it open. It contained all the medication. This instituted an investigation by the pharmaceutical manufacturer. They discovered that my GERD pill, Prevacid, was inhibiting my acid production which the medication needed to start the process to dissolve.

Hi i too take Pentasa but not in capsule form, the ones i take you can just swollow or put them  a in a small amount of water and take maybe this would be better for you than the capsules Bevx 

its just the shell...its a pain..i didn't like it..since Remi i refuse to take my Pentasa..it caused so many problems as it used to get stuck in my fistula...i think its not good for those who have fistula's....i have had them getting stuck in skin next to where my fistula used to drain..and i don't know why..but it made me hate Pentasa..i think Asacol works better..i might go back on that..i just need to call my GI..

Pentasa didnt work for me, either. But I was having my diabetes medicine passing through whole. so we had to change to insulin.
