Doctor recommendation in or near NJ

Hi all,

In the next few weeks I will finally leave Illinois. I will be moving to central New Jersey and am looking for gastro recommendations. I am willing to travel across NJ, and Philadelphia / NYC are also possible.

Hi, I live in southern NJ, and my GI Doc is in Philadelphia, at Pennsylvania Hospital.

His name is Dr Fran Dufrayne, very nice, very good doctor, down to earth, you can talk to him, hes not one of those stuffed shirt kind of doctors...

You can also try University of Pennsylvania Hospital, I hear Dr Lichtenstein is awesome, he is a Crohns specialist...I personally havent switched to him, cause I am comfortable with Dr Dufrayne.  I'm sure there are docs closer to where you are gonna be moving, but good luck with your search....

If your willing to go to NYC then you can try Dr. Johnathan Potack at Mt Sinai.  He is really good and Mt Sinai does a lot of research in IBD and Crohns.  If you need more info on him, email me.

I go to Patricia Kozuch at Jefferson. I have travelled all over far and wide and was NEVER happy with dr's unitl I found her - she is excellent!!!! Caring, open-minded, explains everything in a down to earth manner, , is very up to date with her knowledge (she goes to the latest conferences) emails back immediately when I have questions or problems even when she is not in office and on weekends....runs all the proper tests, great hospital/office as well!

I'm sorry I didn't mention that Jefferson is in Philadelphia. I live Central Shore area of NJ and it takes me just under an hour and a half to get there.

Dr. Lichtenstein or Dr. Osterman at University Hospital in Philadelphia. You could also check out the Princeton Healthcare System.

I would absolutely recommend seeing Dr. Maser at Mt. Sinai. I think Mt. Sinai is an excellent resource for our disease and after leaving two other doctors I finally feel at ease with her.

After having a disasterous experience with a gastro named Dr. Leo Katz at Jefferson University Hospital (all my scopes had to be redone bc he only took TWO biopsies during a colonoscopy) I got a recommendation to go to Middlesex/Monmouth Gastroenterology and specifically Dr. Geller (I also live in Central NJ). I have only been seeing him for two months but have found him very responsive - he actually calls you back the day you call him, and treats you like a human being. I do not know if he is a crohns specialist or not.

I would recommend Dr Blair Lewis from NYC. He is a great doctor also with Mt. Siani . He had something to do with the camera pill . He is also very good with the scopes and highly respected .

Thank you for all the info! I am still in the middle of unpacking and prepping for job interviews, but I am going to look into your recommendations as soon as I can.
