A request

This can be deleted anytime, but I do have something I feel is prudent to be said.

Many of you know that I'm keeping a blog. I've recently received some very hateful comments, and this person has admitted to being a healingwell member. They seem to be too afraid to give their name, but I would simply like to ask that if you do not like to read about what I have to say about my medical life then stay away from my blog.

I'm accused of coming here to do nothing but whine. I disagree, and I know many members will back me up on this.

Folks, we come here to support each other. Not to spread hatred and bigotry. All of us, ALL OF US, have a difficult time with these diseases, and to come out in the open with the things we've experienced is something not many people can do.

This person cannot even give their name.

I simply ask that we, all of us, remain adult and civil towards one another. We're here to be supportive and give advice or constructive criticism. That's what these forums are for.

p.s. I just read a bit of your blog. Just delete those hateful comments, no one has a right to judge anyone else.

My main concern is that people here already have a difficult time expressing themselves outside of this website, and the last thing we need is people from here deciding to become a part of that outside world in a hateful manner.

We need to be careful with each other. Someone will be picked on someday that is already broken down, and harmful results may come of it. Myself? I can't help but laugh at this person who is too cowardly to even come out in the open. They're trying to deny being from here now, but I imagine that mentioning the site and telling me that I see them every day is implication enough. All the same, I'm grateful for the rest of you :)

I just hope we can all take note to be careful in the future.

I agree, Mag. I put the comments to be moderated before they're posted from now on. I don't mind that they disagree, just like I feel like people have the right to disagree here. I think the main issue is whether or not people are able to express it in a civil manner.
Even people without illness have a difficult time facing something so ugly as a person with ill intent. I guess we always have a little bit of growing up to do (or a lot), but it should never be at the cost of our peers. I could never hurt any of you that way. You deserve only the best!!

And you know, I'm thinking, they deny that they're from here, but then how would they know who I am to call
"whiny" in the first place hm? Funny, funny people ;) That is, unless they actually sift through all of these threads to even find my blog link. Ah well, either way.

I'm working on emails right now, Ivy :) I'm finally up and able to write so you and a another person should most certainly expect a message!

I hope the Mods don't delete this post! I just looked at your blogspot (very nice - BTW) and whoever wrote those posts is just plain rude. IMHO, blogs are personal conversations with friends and loved ones, and interlopers giving caustic comments just aren't welcome. People like this are disagreeable, useless internet pests.

I just read your blog. There's absolutely nothing wrong with it and no reason for anyone to be hateful to you. If someone doesn't like it, they can just stop reading it and not return. Brush it off, and don't let it intimidate you, inhibit your self-expression, or make you self-conscious. We know what you're facing, and we have your back!

There are a lot of people who read but never post here. I am going to think positive thoughts that it was not one of our regular posters.

I had thought about that, pb4, but I think the quality of the posts here do anything but serve the plight of an arrogant hypocrite. They seem to be quite alone in their viewpoint, and, if they are a member, they will at least know to be a little bit more cautious before they post something hateful against other members. I know they tried to say that they aren't on this website, but I feel the same way as you. There were a few specific things that make me feel they're only trying to hide. I wanted them to know at least that this kind of bigotry will not be tolerated here.

That, in the end, is my main concern. I don't want anyone else to have to put up with that kind of nonsense, and we all need to feel safe about posting here as well as advertising our own personal websites or blogs.

I see they're attempting to continue their "advice," but I did change some settings so other people won't be put down if they do happen to read comments on my blogs. Personally, I've been affected by comments towards others quite the same way the original target might feel. I don't see any need for that if it can be helped.

Thank you all, by the way. It's always nice to be reminded that we're not alone in the way that we feel. You're all quite wonderful...

I get where you're comming from LMills, I hope that by you posting about it here will make this person realize a few things and will in turn make them open their own eyes about the type of person they are to do such a thing...it's very sad and hard to believe really that anyone here would actually do such a thing. Yours was the first blog I've ever read, I'm not really into that stuff, blogs and such, I didn't even know you could post on a person's blog, though I never really knew what they were all about, still not 100% about blogs, I'm not that computer savvy, wouldn't even know how to set one up, not really interested to though either LOL.

Don't let this particular situation ruin anything for you, it's not worth giving negativity the attention.

I hope the mean commenter will remember the story of the mom who pretended to be a boy on a myspace page and made fun of a 13 year old girl. The 13 year old girl killed herself. Words can hurt and there is no reason for cruelty.

Whoever wrote those comments is to be pitied. We can read them and just click right out if we want. LM...you can do the same, or delete (can't you? I don't know that much about blogs, etc.) For you LM, those comments probably hurt your feelies. I know they would mine. I like to think everyone in the whole world likes me. LOL!

Anyway, that poster is to be pitied because that kind of negativity and ill feeling is what that person probably carries around in their heart and mind all the time. To me that would be more painful and miserable than any Crohn's pain.
