Meds for diarrhea?

I currently take 90+ mg of codeine everyday for diarrhea. Thing is I find my concentration is shot and I feel lazy a lot, I often wonder if this is down to the amount of codeine I take.

I use calcium for bulking too and Immodium doesn't agree with me and Questran/cholestyramine didn't work. Just wondered if anyone had any suggestions of anything else I could try for diarrhea or are there any other meds that have constipation has a side-effect that would be less dope-ifying than codeine?

Hi, i used to take lomotil it worked great for me could take up to 8 a day but i needed only two in the morning to get me through the whole day! Bev X

i never found that tramadol did a thing for me but lomotil does..n for me it hasnt caused grogginess or such...good luck let us know..lyni also found that when doc put me on t 4s that helped a bit more..

I believe when I was on lomotil my Dr. said it was an opiod bonded to a larger molecule so it wouldn't pass through the blood brain barrier so you got no narcotic effects.

I was taking Questran and a lot of loperamides, as well as cocodomol and all the other medication and I still had/have terrible diarrhoea and my doctor has just put me on questran light instead when I told her I was still getting a lot of diarrhoea. I cant say at the moment if it is actually working as I am having a flare up atm so my movements are all over the place, and I am now back on the steroids!

I also take Questran & Lomotil. The Questran i have to take for the rest of my life as my ileocecal valve was removed when i had my resection. But i found nothing really worked for me for D until i tried Lomotil, it has been a life saver for me. It's the only thing that really slows down my intestines and gives me a rest for a long period of time. It doesn't really make me tired, a little bit groggy maybe, but i find i feel more realaxed from it as i am a big stress head most of the time. So it gets a major thumbs up from me. You should give it a try, you'll know within a few days if it's for you or not.
