Another option is to go with fibre supplements, my GI told me to take fibre supplements during a really bad flare (NOTE: I don't have blockage or stricturing CD myself, but for those that do a fibre supplement may be an easier route to go)...of course you'd still start with a small amount, drink plenty of water with it and take it daily so your system can adjust to it (part of your system adjusting to it is increased gas/bloating, took my system 3 months but was worth every miserable day of it...besides I was pretty gassy and bloated then anyways).
Since using the fibre supplements daily and indefinitely (I started on them 5ish yrs ago) once my system adjusted to the one cap/day I was taking I found eating fibreous foods easy (no excess gas or bloating from it).
Otherwise, as Blossom suggested, go slow with fibreous foods, only increase the amount you're eating after your system ajusts.
