I'm so sorry - and I can relate as most of can and hearing our stories will assure you that you are not alone! Do take the above advice and get your disease under control with the right meds. I'm a wholistic kind of gal, and I am committed to my meds as I can't get as sick as did this fall (I was eventually hospitalized) as I'm looking for employment. I lost 25 pounds in four weeks ... and then ...
I just got back from my dr. appt yesterday and I've put all back on plus 4 pounds! I look like a big fatty ... my appetite is out of control on prednisone (I'm still on a high dose, starting with IV steriods, then 60 mg, now 55 mg after 4 weeks after hospitalization. My family doc is talking to my GI doc to see if we can come down a bit faster. I am retaining so much fluid and you can see it in my face. And I have a blind date on Friday! ARGH!
So, my point in sharing all this, is life goes on ... and sometimes if feels like Crohn's is a ball and chain...
As eating can be hard, esp. when you are so busy which it wounds like, why not try som protein shakes? I bought some brown rice protein powder at HyVee for not that much money. I add rice milk to mine - as reg. milk can be an irritant to some. I add physillum to mine which might help you if you have diahreahha (sp?) ... and you can blend in any fruit you can tolerate. I've heard people on this site talk about papaya and kiwi being a good digestive. You know what you can tolerate and there are a lot of shakes options out there. You can make them ahead of time and put them in the bell jars (they come in pint and quart sizes) and take them to work and have them when you need to supplement. The jelly jars work well as the seal won't leak in your bag.
As you can see, I'm a bit maternal as I have three sons about your age ... but hang in there and come back to this site often. I've just found it and it has helped me so much!! Thanks to the excellent moderaters who obviously have a lot of experience.
