I curious what people define as remission, my cd is controlable but never has it gone away, I still feel the area where my disease has been resected, if I've eaten something that i shouldn't have or eaten something at the wrong time i will get small blockage (gas blockage) I call them very painful until gas go thru 2-4 hr's pain period but total 100% remission I think never for me. so really what is remission?

I would define remission as being able to live as if you didn't have CD. i.e. No signs of inflammation and no diet restrictions needed. Haven't gotten there yet :(

HI I was blessed with 15 wonderful years of remission, after having a right hemicolectomy in 93 I obviously knew that D would be part of my life from then on, but was able to control that with Lomotil but other than that I had no symptoms whatsoever (in fact i did wonder then if i had crohns) But in 08 it raised its ugly head!! My aim in life now is to get another 15 yrs like that!!! But this time i WILL stay on medication

a Def. of remission isn't really based on how you feel. Why? Because Remission based on numbers is going to make you feel normal again regardless.
Doctors Will look at your Hemoglobin, CRP, CMP and even possibly a Small bowel follow through and Colonoscopy.
If or bloodwork is INACTIVE and your symptom free. There most likely will be good signs on your scopes. Your Doctor will than giveyou the AWESOME news.
Wish I could obtain remission. Just keep pushin for it.

Hi, yep, remission is when you can eat when you want what you want and you have normal stool, no pain...
Have been lucky and have been in remission for 2,5 years after a resection. Fingers crossed, hoping for more

I agree I think remission is very individual. I am currently in remission, but it doesn't mean I can eat anything I want and have zero symptoms. Because of my resections, I will never be able to eat what I want, but my symptoms are much improved. I still have IBS attacks on occasion when I have eaten something that doesn't agree with me, but I am also better able to deal with it now. JMHO
