Cimzia?

Hi everyone,

I'm new here. Glad to have found such a helpful group. I have Crohn's disease. It was very mild until I gave birth. Since then, I've struggled (18 mos.). Had another colonoscopy today and Doc says its pretty inflammed. He would like to try Cimzia. I open to it because I've had a really miserable time. Have you had success with this one?

p.s. I've tried Asacol, prednisone and Entocort. Only Prednisone worked but I gained a lot of weight and got both the moon face and the back hump. I hate to go there again.

Thank you, Becoming Undone. I'm glad you are having success with Cimzia. What do you mean that you are "atypical"? :-)

I tried Cimzia but sadly didn't get much result from it. I did respond very well to Remicade and Humira, which are both similar. I had no side effects from Cimzia though.

macmommy, Atypical, in that I don't achieve total remission of symptoms, they just become less severe, and that it runs out in 3 weeks. Even my blood markers for inflammation are way high, but not quite as high as without. So now I get an injection 2x a month. It seems to be working...

Side effects? Mostly a feeling of a stuffy nose/throat requiring benedryl. And some hair loss, at least for me. You might get a funny taste in your mouth a few days...not as bad as some meds.

For me the side effects of prednisone were much worse. Had the anger things, the sugar sensitivities and the food just didn't taste wright. Oh, forgot the moon face, the buffalo hump, and the stretch marks on my stomach.
