I have found that the Lialda gives me constipation. Anyone else have this issue? Does it help to take it with food or at night rather than in the mornings?

I am having major hair loss at the moment I am on Asacol not pentasa.
My doc thinks it is the Disease not the meds that are causing my hair loss.
I have extremely thick hair so I dont have bald spots yet, but my hairdresser notice that my hair is starting to be thinner.
I am just thinking about
shaving it off :)

Well I just had to let you know my daughter has been on the Lialda for about
7 months and has experienced severe hair loss. Changing her meds for that reason other wise it helped her condition.

I ended up staying on Pentasa and adding more Biotin and Folic Acid. Thanks for the input!

I've been on Lialda since late January and I don't have any hair loss. If I did, meh, it would just be a good excuse for me to shave my head!
It's definitely reduced my fatigue, but I can't tell if it's effected my bowels much.
I take it after dinner each night.
I know it's not going to heal my abscessed fistula, but I feel like it is keeping it at bay. I haven't experienced any drainage since I started taking Lialda.
I think my GI prescribed Lialda for me because my Crohn's is all in the rectum?
Or it could be that my Crohn's just isn't that severe?

I'm about
to start the Pentasa again. I did notice hair loss during my first time taking it but knew nothing of actual side affect of losing hair until reading this forum now. I'm stressed about
taking Pentasa now. I have/had thick long beautiful dark brown hair. It is the one & only physical thing that I fix to give me a confidence boost.
What should I do to ensure that I don't lose my hair? More vitamins/minerals? Is there natural hair thickener grower? I need something to turn me into a human chia pet!!!! Well, just for my head anyways. I can't lose my hair!!!
or do I just tell the pharmacy to tear up the prescript
ion they are filling & have the doc get me something else?
(I have mild CD, they removed a flat polyp 3/18/10, have 6 erosions on my sm int. Nothing affecting the colon/lg int.) Diagnosed. Feb '07.
Also suffering swollen crippling knees & hip. Hurts like the crazy! No one seems to know what is wrong with me on that.

I switched from Asacol to Lialda due to insurance reasons. It has been a very unpleasant experience for me! I've had horrible acne, hair loss, headaches, backaches, bloating, flatulence, abdominal pain, and chest pains! This is the first Crohn's medicine that has affected me this way! I stopped taking it, and am still trying to get it out of my system.... I've heard that it can take awhile for ur body to get off of Lialda, and for the side effects to dissipate. Needless to say, I do not recommend this medicine!
