for candians please.. A few Q'S

  i try to help people as much as i can. im only visit on 3 health related sites, here and two others specifically for TPN users and other wierd crap.

 so heres my little story and questions, a person in alberta has eating issues and let's just say is emaciated and starving,  says they have a stomach tube for eating )long story but not CD)  has other issues about leaving the house as well etc..

 now heres the question, this person says there is NO home health in Alberta. that drs are not allowed to talk to patients on the phone in case its "not them" or some ooo"privacy rules and laws" and that there is NO hospital willing to treat this "special" problem of having a minimum temp in the room of 85, no air blowing on the face etc.. not even the mayo clinic. some "rare" disorder.

  so this person comes online looking for advice about getting back to health etc... so i watched a few days worth of posting reading some pretty far out stuff and some very good advice.. i echoed what a couple others had said, get to a dr get hospitalized, and get back to health both physicaly and mentaly (this person admits to eating disorders etc..)

 this person insists that there is no help available except her dietician (whom doesnt know what they are doing) of course right, and the internet..

 if you have any agencies or public health offices i can contact or any type of place in Alberta that you think may help can you let me know please. if the story is true its the saddest thing ive ever heard and would like to help , but with some of the things that were said, im thinkng a strong possibility of a hoax . in which case the person need shrink help even more. thanks guys.. oh its supposed to be in southern Alberta

Yup, I live in Alberta, just outside of Calgary (for now)...Randy, this sounds bizarre to me...

Some docs take phone calls with patients and some don't, the ones that don't, don't because they can't bill their time to alberta health care, the ones that do, care more about the patient then charging the health care system for every interaction with a patient.

There is some degree of home health care (don't know what it's officially called though) mainly for elderly people and I'm sure some other exceptions.

I don't really know what kind of health issue this person you're referring to has but if it's something oddly rare, then I can't imagine that they wouldn't get proper treatment on a regular basis...it may be a hoax, I don't know, it's a very bizarre story.

Randy after giving your story another read, I must say when I had my ostomy on my side awhile back, I had help from home care which was arranged thru the hospial and drs. that I saw when I was really sick back in '98.
There should be help ava. out there - you just gotta know where to look and who to talk to.
Home Care should be able to help this person, if not I would be suprized.
Call HEALTH LINK - I did once and they are very helpful with many things.
I also agree with the diatition thing as well, I have seen many and sometimes it can be a waste of time.

ok thanks guys i will send along the link to alberta health.. in a way i hope its a hoax, so that somebody really aint that bad off, but who knows.. if i figure it out ill let ya know.

the VON still exists, and there is a new next door nurse service. I will get the name and number for you later today. I also live in alberta, and it is the doctor who decides if they will talk on the phone. because they can't bill for phone calls, some refuse. $$$$
