On Z-pac, can I take my Zantac and protonix?

The insert says not to take w/ antacids. Zantac and protonix are acid blockers and are different from antacids like tums, right?

That is correct. Usually when a med says not to take with antacids it is because of the magnesium or calcium in the antacids. Zantac and protonix reduce acid and should not effect the antibiotic. Whenever I am on a Z-pack I take the antibiotic BEFORE I take my Prevacid. The antibiotic has a hard coating and I figure some stomach acid might help break it down better. Don't know it that is true, but it's my theory.

Thanks! I am taking my protonix in the AM, the antibiotic around dinner time and the zantac at bed time.

Thanks. I had a bad cold that got into my sinuses and chest. I try to avoid antibiotics at all costs but this time I needed it. I was getting worse instead of better and started w/ a fever yesterday. It has only been a few hours since my first dose but I'm already breathing better.
