GI Docs in Pittsburgh?

Hi all,

I'll be attending graduate school at Carnegie Mellon next year (moving from Chicago to Pittsburgh) so am beginning the search early for a whole new team of doctors out there. I've heard that Pitt has a great GI center, but I don't know anything about it.

Anyone from the area/have a rec for a great GI doc? I'm really eager to begin seeing a new doctor and reevaluate my treatment so far. Hoping to make a few appointments when I go apartment hunting in May.

I'm currently seeing Dr. David Binion, he works at UPMC presby at the Uni Of Pittsburgh.  Theres about 5-6 doctors there, and a couple surgeons that all work together.  Best people I've ever met!

"Dr. Binion is an internationally recognized expert on Inflammatory Bowel Disease basic science, translational and clinical investigation. His research has been funded by the National Institutes of Health and the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of America. His investigation has centered on the cellular and molecular mechanisms of human IBD, with a specific focus on the microvascular biology of chronic intestinal inflammation. His clinical work has centered on developing novel therapies and algorithms for treatment of patients with severe and refractory IBD."

  I live in Pittsburgh and my doc is at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center.  He is one of the leading doctors at the Inflammatory Bowel Disease Center. His name is Miguel Regueiro. I've been with him for 8 years now, he is very down to earth.  He is honest and spends whatever time you need during your visit, I never feel rushed. By seeing his name, you may think that he is foreign, but he is not.  His nurses Beth and Linda are extremely prompt in calling you back if they can't get to the phone. I see Leonard Baidoo at the same center. He's straight forward when giving you information or answering questions. I like that he talks to you, not at you. I've been seeing him for about 4 years now and don't have any complaints. You can also try the UPMC website and go to the Find a doctor option for more information on any of these docs.

   Since you are both in pittsburgh, was wondering if you are planning on attending the IBD conference on April 14th?  Dr. Reguerio & Dr. Baidoo are both speaking.  It would be nice to meet both of you.

I'm not going to be able to make it. It's in Cranberry if I remember correctly? That's about an hour away from my house and I work that day.  I did however attend the one they had before there.  Very informational.  I have such respect for those doctors, they are probably the best group of people I've ever met...every one of them.

I'm in the South Hills. Upper St Clair, it's about 30-45 away from Monroeville.
