This is basically the same as Questran, but in pill form. I have used both, and they are commonly used "off label" for D. They do the job well. I prefer the pills just because they are easier to take than the powder. But, I only take them if I will be traveling or some place where bathroom access is unreliable. It tends to give me cramping and bloating. For me, I can deal with my D more than the discomfort of the side effects. Also you have to be careful about when you take it because it will bind to other medications. So I find it is more of a pain in the neck than a help.
That said, there are others on the board whose D is such that without this medication, they would not be able to leave the house and they suffer no adverse side effects. So it is one of those things that you will need to try and see how it works for you.
One word of advice, you may not need the prescribed dosage. You may find that just a small amount does the job. I can take one pill every other day and have the desired effect vs the 4 a day the doctor told me to take, thus minimizing the side effects.
