Hi,
New to the forums, and frankly have never really posted anywhere about my disease, so this is a first. But not being able to find anything concrete, I'll just pose the question!
I've had Crohn's disease for about 10 years. A mild case I'm fortunate to say. All the same I recently went through a rough bought where I was experiencing a great deal of pain, moreso than I have ever felt before. After trying to manage it with a light diet, unsuccessfully, I went to my Doctor who upgraded my "status" from mild to moderate and perscribed me Mezavant. In the past I had only taken Prednisone.
Initially the drug seemed to work very well and my symptoms, the pain and bleeding, subsided. I was over the moon. I started thinking of it as a miracle drug. This two month pain-free reprieve was incredible, but recently I am noticing a return of the symptoms. The bleeding is back, although only slight, and the pain in my stomach is also back. My fear that the drug has run it's course in my system is mounting and was wondering if anyone else has noticed anything similar with Mezavant.
As I am steadily, and slowly, declining, I have increased my regularity of taking the drug. I take it everyday, four tablets. In the two months I have forgotten to take the drug only a few times, or forgotten it at home and so couldnt take it, but didnt notice ANY effect.
Any experiences or advice?
Thanks so much for reading,
Ray
