Painful intercourse after rv fistula graft repair

Hi all,
I know this is a personal problem...but I am wondering if Painful intercourse is the norm after rv fistula repair surgery. I had the surgery 4 months ago where the gracilis muscle was removed from my thigh and grafted in between the rectum and vagina. That was my 4th of 5 surgeries. The latest surgery in March to reverse my ileostomy.

Got the go ahead for the 'second Honeymoon'...and oh gosh. I feel like I'll never be normal down there. Has this happened to anyone and does it get better? I'm really nervous that this might be the 'new normal'. Thanks for any input or advice.

I've not been there either, but I have had periods when the wrong move hurt me insides.

The best I can suggest, and it's not much, is that 4 months is not a long time to heal. I hope it get's better for you in time. Keep the faith and tell your doctor about it.

In the mean time, there are many ways to make love, not all involve sex, or at least that's what I keep telling myself, being newly married and into another flare, with a fistula which is abscessing so sex is presently not on my list of things I want to do, sigh...

Hello, sorry took me a while to start writing again but I knew if I read enough something would bring me out of my shell, Thank you. First it is to soon after surgery as far as I am think I had surgery 4 months ago and got an ostomy put on and my rectum which was destroyed with 30+ yrs of crohns was removed and I got a barbie butt.I had roids, fistulas, a really sad butt hole. to this day Iam scared it hurts to have sex and yours was worse so if I was you Id say time is your friend right now

I am not a female, but I have had several abscesses and now fistulas down there since October 2009. I can totally relate to this and feel terrible that I haven't been able to satisy my wife. My pain has been centralized behind my genatalia area and it does suck. Just wanted to let you know that your not alone.

Hi, I see there has been chat regarding rectovaginal fistulas on here but from a while ago, so hopefully someone can still help me!!
I have a fistula from "medical misadventure". I have had 2 failed repairs. Hopefully going for the 3rd in the new year (fingers crossed).
Every so often I must eat the wrong food, or something that doesnt agree with me & I get a terrible burning feeling in my vagina & surrounding area. Besides tramadol & not moving, nothing helps - its the worst feeling ever!
Has anyone had this? Do you know something to help with the pain??

I have changed my diet to try & eat only an alkaline diet but this is hard to stick too.
Any help, advice & support would be appreciated - I totally feel on my own & no one around me understand :(
