aoccc, make sure you report them to admin{at}healingwell.com so he can ban them.   Make sure replace {at} with @. In the mean time I would recommend removing your email and yahoo info from your profile at least for while.   

Snappy it really is quite sad, because it is an illness, really needs professional care, and certainly like most mental health issues is a chronic illness.  But it is an illness that can hurt others.

Just an idea for you all. The email I have listed is my bucket email. It is the one I give out for all things unimportant. Like when stores need an email or when you need to register at a website, wink wink. I have a separate email that I use for work and personal correspondence. I would only give that out to someone from here after I knew them from multiple posts and knew that they were for real. I don't really care who emails my bucket email. I go in every few days or so to check it but other than that it is just junk. That is why when someone from here says they are going to email me I ask them to give me a heads up otherwise I might miss it. Its a sad thing but I get hundreds of emails a day in my bucket email and most are spam or sales pitches of some kind, I can't possibly go through all of them.

I think I use the delete button on my email more than any other key on my computer. Amazing that some people are so dense as to fall for these scams.

I'm all for "probiotics way better than the crap you get in the drug store".....I take some stuff that has at least 3-5X as many strains as most things that are sold under the name probiotics, and they include several strains that usually don't show up in most blends which are very important. Notably L. Reuteri which has been shown to thicken intestinal linings as well as improve surface tissue condition.

But for people to go around using such tactics to sell stuff...that's obscene. I occasionally make specific recommendations to people about brands of supplements etc. that I have had good results with -- something I can't say about many of the treatments I've tried over the years, pharmaceutical or otherwise -- and would hate to be mistaken for a spammer/scammer in doing so. I help take care of my two kids (inasmuch as I'm really able to, which isn't nearly as much as I'd want), and I don't have a lot of time to spare....but I make a point of trying to share knowledge that has helped me, and perhaps help others who are suffering. That makes it a bit easier to cope with my own horror and pain....

...the notion that someone is out there, exploiting the awful things we're already going through to do nothing but line their pockets....infuriating beyond words.

Hopefully our community can help us keep track of those that do this, and ban them (preemptively, even, by their IP addresses) from as many sites as possible.

This is probably one of the reasons I have a tendency to distance myself from people after a while... It's not something I really do intentionally, but... I get afraid of getting too close, sometimes...

'Course, this sort of thing doesn't just happen on the net (though, I imagine it's more likely to happen with me)... I do this sort of thing to people in real life, too... Dunno why...

It's good in a way because it helps protect me from people... but it's bad because I feel bad about it... Its just not very nice to distance yourself from people who really do care about you...

Yeah, I know... and I really do appreciate all of you guys' support... and I care about you guys a lot, too... (Well... those of you that I know... There's been some new members on here that I don't know yet, but I'm sure I will eventually... I like to help in anyway I can, regardless)... If I do drift away, again, it's not intentional... I don't always realize that I'm doing it... I probably will come back, though... This is a pretty safe environment for the most part, and that can be pretty hard to find...

Lyn, first of all dont feel bad for trusting, feel good for not falling for the scam. The old saying that if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is too good to be true. Nope I dont know any general. Have no use for them and any heros I know, and I know some, would never claim to be a hero. No amount of medals can make someone a hero either. It is sad that people pray on other people , and worse they do it when they are in need of good people . All that being said , I just happen to have some magic beans.
