What do you do on the day of your infusion?

Other people take sick days for a cold, but me – I came to work this afternoon after my remicade infusion at 7:30am this morning!

I am quite proud :-)

The infusion runs from 7:30 to around 11:30 but I figured if I could, I would like to go to work afterwards, and use my sick days for other occasions!

Does anyone else go to work on the same day as their infusions? I am pretty sleepy and I have a headache but I am pushing through!

When I was working, got the first appointment and went in late to work. Now that I'm unemployed, I get it at 9am, it finishes around 11am, and I go home and lay around; it doesn't really change my schedule.

i go to work and leave at 1ish and then get the infusion.

Every infusion is a little different for me but I generally feel fine except for being a little drowsy from the benedryl premeds. about a hour after the infusion though I start to get flu like symptoms for a while and ache for a day or 2 before getting back to feeling normal. I know do my infusions around 1 pm and get home around 5 pm which gives me the rest of the evening to just relax.

I usually work the mornings and leave after lunch. I get done around 4:30 and then head home to relax.

I wouldn't mind working after my infusion buy by the time I would get to work, it would be time to go home.  That said, I take a sick or personal day.  I hate doing this but at least I have some "me time".  I can relax afterwords and get any errands I need to do done.

I go to work right after my infusion.  The first few times were hard just simply due to complete exhaustion!  The one I had last week was the first time I wasn't tired, but I did take a 2 hour nap :)

I made the mistake of doing my first infusion in the morning, timed perfectly so I could go to an afternoon meeting with a client. I was so groggy and miserable the rest of the day, I decided to swap times.

I now do my infusions at 1:30 (the latest the infusion center will let me) after having gone to work, then go home and take a nap. Works out much better that way.

That’s actually a really good idea, I hadn’t thought of asking for an afternoon infusion! I might ask if that’s possible next time I get booked in – though yesterday worked well and I didn’t feel bad at work; I don’t take pre-meds so I don’t get overly sleepy, though usually about an hour in I get tired and have a nap.
