Does anyone on Entocort, get a weird taste in their mouth as a side effect? I have read that some people get weird tastes in their mouth right before a flare, but wasnt sure if Entocort also caused this or maybe its something completely unrelated.

Also, time for an odd question. Does chewing gum generally irritate Crohns? Not swallowing the gum obviously, just chewing.

im sorry i don't know about your first question, but i do know that chewing gum is a laxative and so chewing too much can't be good for us crohnnies!

I think sometimes...maybe its in my head, but I think chewing stirs up those gastric juices which sets the digestive process in motion...causing crohn's to act up....kinda like right when you eat, you have to run for the bathroom!

I have been taking entocort for almost 3 months.  I can't say for 100% certain, but my tongue seems to get coated and does taste a bit off.  I eat a lot of peppermint to offset the taste and worry about bad breath.  I have had that longer than I've been taking the pentasa.  Most likely it is the ento, but I cannot say beyond a shadow of a doubt.

Actually anything that is different than it was some months ago I am just flat out attributing to side effects of the disease or meds.  Nothing so bad I won't take them yet.

Chewing gum can be an issue...sugarless gum typically contains artificial sweetners (especially those with sugar alcohols, anything ending in "tol", sorbitol, xylitol, ect) can cause tummy issues (even for those that don't have gut issues can be sensitive to artificial sweetners) or regular gum, with sugar and all that other junky stuff since sugar is inflammatory.

Also, keep in mind, when you chew gum, you swallow a lot of air. I know the gas it produces is painful for me.
