Burning in my throat question?

For the last few days I have been getting a horrible burning sensation in my throat.  Is this acid reflux or heartburn?  I have taken tons of tums/antacids and they are not helping much.  Any advice?  Does anyone else with CD get this?  I do drink 2 diet cokes a day... maybe I should cut that out.  It awful, any advice would be great!

It could possibly be acid reflux because that is very common in IBD. Have you recently changed medications? I have a lot of inflammation in my stomach due to Crohn's. I would recommend you go to your local Pharmacy and get Omeprazole which is Prilosec OTC. It's a little pricey and I don't know if there is an off brand, but I would get a week worth of medicine and try that and see how that plays out. If it works I would have you ask your doctor to give you a prescription for it. It’s cheaper that way. Also carbonation is not good for your throat or your stomach. If you are having complications already the carbonation in soda can increase the acid reflux affects. Also another alternative is tomatoes if your body can handle it. Good Luck

I have also had success with Pepcid AC. Tums and rolaids didn't touch it, but the Pepcid did.

And I totally agree with crohnsboy, carbonation can make the acid reflux worse. Try cutting out the diet cokes and see if that helps.
