On Entocort & Imuran?

hi:  Is anyone that is on mercaptppurine also on entocort? :-)

But mercaptopurine (6MP) is a different drug to Imuran (azathioprine). They're almost identical, but Imuran gets broken down into 6MP in the body. No idea what difference this extra step makes, but it must make some difference to make it worthwhile having the two separate drugs, instead of just 6MP alone.

I'm on 9mg of Entocort at the moment, due to go down to 6mg at the end of this month. On 50mg of 6MP, will go up to 75mg when I finish this current bottle (about 3 weeks). The Entocort doesn't seem to have had much effect, really... =/

Yup, I've been on Entocort practically since I was diagnosed (9 mg/day for almost a year and a half now), and I've been on 6mp (50 mg) since a couple of weeks after my resection, which was just over 2 months ago.

I have been on either 6 or 9 mg of endocort since dxed and am currently on 100 mg of imuran (since nov).  I don't know how much it helps until I get off the endocort....when I do I am flaring within a mo.

My son was on entecort(9 mg) and azathioprine(100mg) although he has now weaned off the entecort. The entecort did not appear to do too much for him barring severe acne.
