scar tissue

Hello everyone,

I've issues with some scar tissue in the past.  I've been having issues and alot of pain recently and i'm wondering if the scar tissue hasn't increased causing some narrowing. i have a drs appointment today, but I'm very nervous I'll need surgury to remove this part of my colon. does it heal naturally? or does it have to be cut out? perhaps i'm just imagining the worst. i have issues with doctors and haven't been in awhile, i know very bad.  but i'm facing my fear now! i have to start somewhere right?

When I have had strictures in the past I have suffered with alot of constipation and nausea as my main symptoms. I didn't have pain with the stools, just had a hard time geting it out. I am surprised you would have constipation with those green juices. If the stricture is comprised all of scar tissue there isn't much you can do other than remove it surgically. But if it is comprised of inflammation, then meds will help to reduce the swelling. Good luck at the docs, and I would expect you to be tried on some meds to see how they help and probably another round of tests.

Yes, when I have flare-ups or problems I sometimes become quieter or more impatient with my family. I just had a major surgery on May 18 where they primarily widened a couple of strictures and mainly removed lots of scar tissue from previous surgeries. I was in the hospital for 3 weeks before they decided they were going to do surgery. I initially went in for a partial obstruction and that cleared but still had major pain. I was hospitalized last year 3 times with obstructions and each time they said there was no active Crohns showing, so I asked my doctor what was causing the obstructions and he said they could be mechanical, i.e scar tissue and such from previous surgeries. While I didn't want surgery initally when I first went into the hospital, I remember being relieved when they decided to do it.
It really depends on what is causing the scar tissue, i.e active Crohn's or not .. They treated me with 300 mg of Prednisone because they thought they saw inflammation and then they said there wasn't
t anything there and stopped it. The most frustrating part is they kept saying the continual pain I had wasnt from Crohns and they didnt know what was causing it. I told them I had stronger pain 2 hrs after eating liquid diet or full liquid and that was after being on around the clock pain medicine ...
