Did the Ct Enterography on Friday, and now have felt like crap all weekend.   On Friday after the test I had SOOOO much gas, bloating and discomfort, it was a very long day.  Everything was just gurgling thru me.  I woke up yesterday morning, feeling so-so, but later I had a very acidy upset stomach that lasted the rest of the day, felt miserable.  Now today right after I ate my lite breakfast, I have a very unsettled stomach.  Just feel blech! skull

I did this test 2 years ago, and don't remember feeling this bad afterwards.  Anyone else go thru anything like this?  Did you find anything to give you some relief.  I have tried nausea meds, Maalox, and my heating pad.   Gotta go back to work tomorrow, and its gonna be a long day, if I have to work like this.

I always feel that bad after both the ct enterography and the colonoscopy... I barely eat for a couple of days after and just rest. Hugs to you.. here's hoping that comfort comes your way soon..

Aww Nanners, I'm not much help as I haven't had that test but, just wanted to say hope you are soon feeling better and it doesn't go on to long, rest up and take it easy.Bev x

I tried to do some research on the contrast to see if it causes problems, but really didn't find much info. I just feel so poopy, and want to feel better. Thanks for the kinds wishes. Hugs to my peeps:)

I felt like that for a few days after my CT Enterography as well. It's the contrast they give you to drink. Awful stuff! Hope you feel better soon.

Are you talking about the barium contrast? Or do I have the wrong test in mind.

If I don't, the effects only lasted about 2 days, but the 3rd day was still "don't trust a fart mode" just in case.  If I have the wrong test in mind I still hope you feel better soon.

Did you drink Volumen? I've had it a couple times without too much ill effect (I think it may have given me D). I would just drink lots and lots of water to flush it out of my system. A nurse told me prune juice is great for flushing out contrast, so I used that once too. Feel better!

I'm not sure if a CT enterography and a plain old CT with contrast are the same thing. I had the CT with contrast over Memorial Day weekend and for me the barium contrast always does a number on me. It lasts for a few days and then things settle down again. That stuff is just so rough on our systems. I hope you are feeling some better by now and that you feel like yourself again soon.

I had this problem with the one CT Entography I had.

Whatever they gave me for contrast was just mixed into Gatorade, so it was quite palatable and not bad at all.

But man, about 3 hours later....I was off and running, so to speak, and it persisted for about 48 hours, if I remember right. Apparently one of the contrasts they use for that is notorious for causing D. I wish I had known so I could've asked if there was something else I could have had instead. :(

Oh yea, I was in the bathroom before they even took the ct scan!!! They told me it would probably give me diarrhea. I have to pre-medicate with prednisone and benadryl b/c I am allergic to the ct dye, so maybe that made things a little better for me but I remember having diarrhea all day after that having to stop on the way home etc.....

I hope you feel better real soon. It's a shame we feel bad and the testing even makes us feel worse-:) Hang in there!!!!!

sorry to hear you're feeling bad!!! the last time i had to drink that stuff i had to run into an office building on the way home and dash for the bathroom- then while i was on the can i puked it all up also...that stuff is horrible! so sweet...i felt bad for a while after as well. hope you feel better soon!

Thank you all for your kind words. Feeling better today, thank goodness. I had to drink the Volumen (3 bottles) and then the IV contrast. Right after the test, on the way home, I thought I don't feel so bad. But shortly after getting home, the gas and fluids were loudly flying thru my guts. The next day I was extremely acidy and unsettled, and yesterday just had YUCK gut all day. I just ate my usual lite breakfast, so we will see how it goes from here. So far so good.

And jeanneac I was in the bathroom right after the first bottle. They were looking for me to start bottle #2 and I was in the bathroom!! I got them all down okay though, and got thru the test.

I am looking forward to Wednesday to hear the results. I am pretty sure they will be okay, but as most of you probably do too, I still worry. Thanks again.

I feel your pain.....funny how we can say that and it probably is quite true. Anyway, I too had a CT Entoragraphy (sp?) a couple weeks back. They gave me 2 bottles of the liquid and I was happy that I was able to drink it all. I then went into the room where they perform the scan and she says that I have one more bottle to drink!!!! Hey I thought i already did that. Nope.

 

Anyway, that's alot of liquid to drink and I too had a lot of gurgling going on afterwards. It's amazing how liquid and gas can cause such a ruckus.

Gail I recently had the same test with feeling about the same as you for a few days after.  I think my guts just could not handle the volume that was forced down in such a short time.  And yes, I was in the bathroom after the first bottle and after the second...they never made me take the third.

Hope you continue to feel better.  I found a lot of heating pad time and G2 helped me feel better sooner.

Habs you should see my tummy from my heating pad. Its literally burnt, because I kept heating my microwaveable corn back up, cuz I felt so sick. Thanks again for you guys support, it means the world to me. Hugs!

Great - just got back from GI doc and I'm scheduled for a CT enterography tomorrow morning @ 7:30. Hope I'm not in for a few days of the same. eyes

Dooger if its any comfort it will only last a couple of days. But.....I have heard I probably could have helped myself a little more, by drinking alot of water afterwards to flush that gunk out of my system. Good luck on your test!

Well, good news - had my CT Enterography yesterday and had to pound 3 bottles of Volumen along with a bottle of water afterward. Can you say * SLOSH * SLOSH * ?!?!? The good news is, I only had 2 or 3 visits to the bathroom before things settled down again and by bedtime, all was well.

I wanted to post this for anyone getting ready for a CT Enterography who may have been scared by all our gloom and doom above. :)
