Was wide awake -- should have been cleaning closets but instead stressing about
getting back to sleep.
Now, it's time to get up and I don't want to!
Ah, the joys of steroids...

I am in the middle of this also. I decided to stop stressing on it and go with the flow. Nothing really has changed except my stress level. We should start a Crohny chat line open only from 1 am to 5 am , what do you think David

I had a night like that too, think its the Methotrexate thats the cause more than the Pred for me, plus aching ankle and knee joints. Felt terrible in work this morning but joys someone actually asked if |I was ok cos I didn't look it ! so glad I was looking rough as well as feeling it, nothing worse than feeling like death and no one noticing !!! Joint pain gone off now but stomach acting up so I'm gonna take it easy this afternoon. Take care all

What time do you take the prednisone? When I started on 40mg a day I would take it in the morning as my doctor suggested when I did that I was up 24/7 could never sleep. After 3 weeks of not sleeping, night sweats, etc I decided I would take it at night. So now I take it before bed. Now I'm down to 10mg but I started to take it at night while on 40mg. I was able to sleep but would get really tired in the afternoon. So now I take a nap in the afternoon somedays and go to bed at night and sleep through the night. Have you tried to take it at a different time? Hope you get some sleep tonight!

Thanks RedSoxFirl86, I am down to 15mg Pred daily and take it in the morning. When I was out of hospital and taking 50mg I had no sleep but as I tapered down it has got better. I will try taking it in the evenings though. I think the Methotrexate may be more of a prob as I take it Monday mornings and feel rough by the afternoon (tired and a bit achey) and most Monday nights find it hard to sleep then on Tuedays I always feel grotty for the day (partly the drug and partly lack of sleep). I think I may have to start taking that at night also. Watch this space !

Last night stayed asleep but only for about

Now tapered to 30 mg. Maybe will be better? Was taking in morning, but might try pm instead...

Hopefully you'll be better on the 30mg. I was on 40mg and was going insane I love my sleep! So when I finally switched to taking it before bed and now when I woke up it helped so much. Now I'm only on 10mg and still take it at night and sleep great. I do wake up very early but now that I've been on the 10mg for 2 weeks I'm noticing I'm sleeping in later and later. I would give it a shot and see if it helps you!
Huckleberry: Do you see a Dr in the city? I'm about
40min from Boston - 20min from the Cape. I see a Dr. at Tufts. Just switched to him in March.

RedSoxGirl85: Thanks for the advice -- I'm going to try night time but not til the weekend just in case it backfires.
I live in Metrowest and see Dr. Mark Epstein at Emerson Hospital, who is lovely. Let me know how your Tufts GI works out. I haven't come into the city yet, but would look for a second opinion if I get to the survey decision or if I keep flaring.

The GI at Tufts has been great! Before going there I saw Dr. Bliss at Boston Medical Center. Wasn't impressed with him at all and only saw him once. Saw his NP all the other times I went. His NP told me to basically wait it out for several months. So I said all set with waiting it out I need answers now! So in March I got in with Dr. Mason at Tufts and he has been wonderful. Figured everything out right away and was shocked the other Dr. didn't put me on Prednisone. As soon as I was put on the 40mg I prednisone I started feeling better after a few weeks. The Dr at BMC just put me on Asacol and the Dr at Tufts said just being on a maintence drug from the start wouldn't have helped me. He was so right. I've been doing so much better since seeing Dr. Mason at Tufts. I did see a GI in Plymouth before going to BMC but it was imposible to get appointments when I needed to be seen ASAP. So going to Boston is great. I've seen someone else who works under Dr. Mason I think he must be an attending and his name was Dr. Bond just saw him on Monday. He was very nice and outgoing. Made the visit nice. Dr. Mason only works Mondays as all the other days he's doing research. So its nice that I've seen Dr. Bond so now I might just ask for him so I can M-F instead of just going on a Monday. Definitly try taking the Prednsione at night this weekend. Hope it works for you by switching! Good luck!

Huckleberry, I know the Pred is miserable, but its the best med to get your Crohns back under control. Now be a good girl this time, and STAY on your meds:)

Huckleberry, How do you even function at work? If I went to bed and was up around 4am there is no way I'd last! When I was waking up at 3am I would take a nap around 9-10ish and another around 3-4ish. Now that I take it at night only one nap and thats if I'm just exhausted. It did take a few days for me to start sleeping longer and longer when I started the prednisone at night. In a week or less I was going to bed and sleeping like a baby! Good luck. Let me know how you make out this weekend!

RedSoxGirl85 -- Last week I was home and not able to work, but this week I'm back at it and doing OK tll about
8 each night ..... I can tell I'm sort of holding it together for crashing this weekend, though -- not good but that's the way it is I guess.
Nanners - Don't worry ... lesson learned! I'm on the meds and will stay there!
Thanks all.
