I have been on 40mg of Prednisone for about 2 weeks now, which increased over the past couple months. This morning I noticed that my right hip was very swollen - is this a reaction to the prednisone, or is it just the prendisone adding to my wonderful curves?  smilewinkgrin

Prednisone will cause you to retain water and it will also move fat from other areas. So it sounds like it is just the prednisone adding to your wonderful curves. I developed very puffy cheeks and also a buffalo hump on my back. It's no fun but will go away. I was told I was extra sensative to the prednisone. I was on 40mg for a month and now I'm on 10mg. I developed hair on my face, puffy cheeks, buffalo hump, and they are all starting to go away slowly now that I'm down to 10mg. Good luck!

Thanks, I can accept the extra curves! Over the years while on prednisone I usually have the puffy cheeks, mood swings, hunger but this is a new one! Glad everything is going back to normal for you and hope you are off soon - good luck and thanks again!

Do you get hair on your face when on Prednisone? I get the mood swings too I could live without those. Feel bad for my friends and family they come on some random. Used to be so happy and go lucky but the prednisone has changed that. One side effect that really bothers me is the hair on my cheeks. I have days when it don't notice it has much but today it's annoying me! I'll take extra curves or whatever but could live without this hair. I was told not to shave it, wax it or do anything with it. As it will fall out eventually but seriously hard to let it just stay there. So I decided to pluck it. I was more positive yesterday about all this. Sorry just had to vent about it while we are on this as a topic.

No worries, venting makes you feel better. And trust me, i am like a Hurricane in the evening when I leave work and arrive home with my 3 kids and husband - they just try to stay out of my way since i am so easily annoyed and hungry!

Yes, I have the hair usually on my upper lip but i have a standard wax appt with my manicure each week! The other thing i also try to do is take some time for myself - my hour at the manicurist or having a green tea somewhere for a moment. That sometimes help you get back to your wonderful, positive self.

I know it is hard and I am like you a very positive person and I try not to let the meds or the CD change that. Also, I know sometimes my co-workers, friends and family depend on my "Happy Days" to pick them up so I push through for me, then know others may need that positive spirit. So, I wake up very thankful each morning that I woke up and start from there.

I hope your day turns around - dont let it get to you and stay away from the mirror. Happy Wednesday!

I got the puffy cheeck & puffy tummy, major mood swings and hunger for really bad sugary foods, night sweats....and the hair too, I just nair'd it, haha

Thanks for being positive! That helped a lot. Maybe I will just get it waxed! Was told it was bad and not to do it but since you are I'm sure it's fine. Was just hoping it would eventually fall out like I was told. I just had a mani and pedi earlier today. So relaxing! But then i look in the mirror and see hair on my face that the rest of my friends don't have. So just makes me feel like I'm falling apart. Guess that's life have to take the good with the bad! You are so very welcome and happy it helped. I was told not to shave because it grows back faster.For me, I had to get it wax it was VERY noticable also because hair grows very quickly for me - but do what makes you comfortable and confident. At the end of the day you have to make you happy first!

LoveArt - I also have the puffy tummy and night sweats!! I have been having the air on blizzard and a fan for the nights and then I have been waking up recently at 353! The hunger and cravings have been terrible - I am not able to eat many vegetables but now I always want Outback wings with cheese fries or a bake potato!

I used to use immac cream to remove the hair from my face. Never did me any harm and made me feel better

I'll have to try the immac cream or Nair and see how that goes. Luckily its just blonde hair and everyone else says that can't notice it but I do!!! LoveArt now you have me wanting Outbacks cheese fries!! So yummy but so bad!
