Got some bad news today

So some of you may have read in my CT Enterography post that the scan showed my Crohns was doing great, but they had found growth on my kidney.  Well I met with the Urologist today and have found out that the growth on my kidney is a tumor.  I will be having surgery to have it removed in the next 2-3 weeks.  He said that at this point they can not tell me 100% if its cancer, but he said the odds are 60-40 that it is cancer.  The will biopsy it afterwards.  The one good thing is that when they remove the growth I will be cancer free if the tumor is cancerous.  So at least there is some good news with the bad.  My GI when he had told me the results of the CT scan said the growth was 1 cm which is really tiny.  Well the Urologist said its bigger than a centimeter and showed me that it was about the size of a half dollar coin. 

I am glad the surgery is really soon as I will have time to recover before my total knee replacement sometime in the early fall.   Feeling a little stunned at the moment, as I have been so busy trying to wrap my mind around the knee replacement, and now this.    I was so expecting him to tell me it was a cyst.  And then when he was typing up the surgical request to read renal mass, really shook me up.

Anyways, if you all would kindly keep me in your thoughts and prayers I would appreciate it greatly.

Poor Nanners.  Doesn't it seem like sometimes it never ends?  Wow.  Its all alot to deal with.  You will be in my thoughts and prayers as you have given all of us much support.  Thanks for all you do and hope everything goes well.

Hi Nanners, I've posted here before when they thought I had Crohn's disease and just read your post. I wanted to share with you that my Mother-in-Law had kindey cancer a loooong time ago and when they found it, it was spreading up the tube that goes into your kidney. She had her one kidney removed and has been completely fine every since.

I also had a client once who's husband had kidney cancer omg... probably 20 years ago... exact same as my mom-in-law... he even was to the point where he had blood in his urine... they took out his cancer kidney and he's been cancer free ever since.

I just wanted to share those two stories with you and hope that it eases your mind some.

Just be thankful they found it early and that it can be taken care of :)

Sometimes when it rains it pours! So sorry your going through this! I've been there..sitting in the Dr.'s office thinking something so clearly and they throw you a major curveball! sigh! I'm praying this all goes smoothly and you can just sit back this summer and heal up for your next adventure! Sounds like by Christmas you'll be all better!
