Hydrogen Breath Test

I saw my GI last monday and he scheduled me for  a hydogen breath test.  Did anybody have one of these tests?  The nurse setting the test appt up told me the worst part of the whole thing was sitting at the office for 3 hours and going back to blow into something every 15 minutes.  He also told me that he is retiring at the end of the year.  He doesn't know if his partners will keep me on or if he was going to send me elsewhere.  He did mention Johns Hopkins and University of Maryland.

Debra- are you in Maryland then? I am familiar with the Johns Hopkins system and they have been very good for me so far.

I guarantee you, at 8 AM to have to drink a sweet, sugary orange drink, I would upchuck it w/the first couple of sips!!!!!

There's been a couple of times, including right now, that we've strongly suspected bacterial overgrowth and I've just taken 10 days of an antibiotic, alternating w/a second antibiotic the first 10 days of the next month. I'm alternating Doxycillin and Amoxicillin. My gut usually responds well to antibiotics, unlike some crohnies. We've usually had to cotinue the regimen for several months. I respond well the first 10 days and then gradually by the end of the month symptoms return or are starting to return. We continue one month after the first month I have no symptoms between regimens.
