Life Insurance with CD

Has anyone been able to get a life policy with CD? I've been denied coverage by several insurers.

Dave123, although I live in Greece, I work in the insurance field for many years, and unfortunately pre-existing conditions are excluded when you are getting a life policy.  The only way they could cover your disease would be if it was a condition that came up after you were already insured.  Unfortunately the insurance companies - at least the ones I know - exclude all pre-existing conditions, the reason is very simple, they consider it a definite loss which will cost them money.

Of course you can get a life policy excluding the CD, but just to cover all the other possible health risks.

My current policy is through my employer, but I used to have a personal policy and I have Crohn's.  I just paid more than someone without it, but I didn't have any problems getting the coverage.  I used an insurance agent who has access to several different companies, so she found the one with the best price for me.  It's possible that some of them denied to cover me and I just didn't know about it.

If we had the money I could easily get a million dollar policy for 25 a month. Just because you have CD doesn't mean you can't get life insurance, it just makes it more expensive. My husband for the same amount was 19 a month, and he doesn't have any health issues. Of course there's many things that play a role in how much your policy is, what kind of job you have, smoking/drinking, health issues, etc. Xander insurance is a great place, so is dfp financial. i don't have life insurance out on myself, but my mother has life insurance on herself, and she ha had crohns since she was 15 years old or so.

Thanks for the replies. I have had CD since I was 17. At 33 I was able to get a term life policy by paying higher premiums. I'm now 38 and trying to get another term policy and I keep getting outright denied, no options of higher premiums. I'm not sure if it's because I'm over the magic age of 35. Other than CD, I am in good health - no smoking, no high blood pressure, not overweight (CD helps there). I guess I will try to find an agent to help.

Maybe this website might help? I found it when I was searching for life insurance. I haven't had a chance to apply yet, so I'm not sure how good the service works. But it's pretty much the only insurance company/agency group I found that outright offers medical underwriting for Crohn's on my first trip through the internet...

Sounds kind of like they work with people who have different disease and help them get insurance. Good luck...insurance isn't another thing that we should have to worry about...

I was able to get a policy thru USAA, but it costs me an addtional $200 a year because of my CD.

well i can say yes i have insurance that was a gruop policy converted to private .. so my rates are locked in at about 150 a month.. state farm keeps sending me an application all the time for life insurance, one time i took it in filled it out and was told yeah we can write you for 1100 a month.. seems they dont like it if youve died already.. ;-).

USAA really? i'll have to call them. my wife's is there- i'm 99% sure they are one of the one's who told me no way a couple of years ago...

I have life insurance through a previous employer.

As long as I remain disabled, then I don't pay the premiums. It is group coverage, governed by ERISA.

Visit this forum below, and ask to speak someone, or just sift through posts, and find an agent you like.

Hmmm...looks like I'm outa luck...ah, that sclerosing colangitis...dang liver! and I didn't even get to drink enough either! I know you can get some when you work, but I don't know if that is possible in the near future...

If you die, they will likely blame it on the CD or meds somehow and won't pay up.

I have two life insurance plans. One my parents got for me a looong time ago before I was ever diagnosed. Then I got a second one through my employer and recently raised the coverage. Didn't get denied or raised premiums, but I don't recall it asking about health conditions either. Just how much coverage I wanted.

seems the best and cheapest is through a group like, AARP,Good sam club, credit union or bank etc.. usually you can get a 1000 dollar policy for free with an option to raise it without a exam or questions.
