Just had surgery on tuesday!!! Im still at the hospital :(

Hi, is it congratulations or oh me?  Are you better and when do you get your out of jail free card?  Are you eating real food or something akin to road kill?  Hope all is well and you can laugh without pain!  Barb

congrats i guess? so far no problems, still can't eat anything yet :(. but i hope everything goes well.. Anyone had surgery before?

I had a resection in April. The first couple of days drag on, but once things start moving around again you get food :)

Was the surgery open or laproscopic?  I had a rough time trying to get my plumbing to work, but after I switched pain meds  all went well.  I hope you have a speedy recovery and can get back home soon. Keep us updated.

Hope you're doing well.

I had a recection (done open) back in 2005 and it was tough but was so much better afterwards.

Worst for me was I had an epidural for 5 days and had an allergic reaction to the tape!!! Took longer getting over the rash than the actual surgery.

I have a 7 inch scar but well worth it - be strong :)

Hi Viv,

Hope you're feeling better and will soon be home.  My daughter had a resection in February, 2005, and has been in remission ever since.  Before the surgery she had 3 obstructions requiring hospitalizations in 18 months.  She is on Imuran as a maintenance drug.

Good luck on a good recovery and a long forever remission.

was it a resection sugery?? open or lap? glad everything went well! im surprised your fuctioning and able to type on the computer! lol I was all sorts of messed up for 2 weeks after my surgery!

I'm curious to hear if people's surgery was open or lap too... I see my surgeon on Wed so I'll know her opinion soon, but... looking at a potential proctocolectomy (removal of rectum) and all of sigmoid colon. At first I thought a temp ostomy, but my GI had a different opinion, especially after my cauliflower like growth (turned out benign, but the GI also was concerned, he said, when he saw it)... Anyway - good to read about other's surgery experiences.

Viv - I hope you are up and about, moving things, and feeling better soon! Good for you for getting it over with! Sending good thoughts your way!

thanks for all the good wishes!!! :) the surgery was going to be lap but they couldn't get to it so i have a huge cut on my tummy :( but as far my chron's i feel GREAT, going to the bathroom normal eating fine just sore because that big cut. Im moving around and recovering fast. To those who might need surgery don't be afraid is wroth it. thanks again for your support. :)
