Hey ol' timers...yes, I've been lurking in the shadows!  How is everyone? scool

I have something developing under the skin on the external vaginal area close to my bum hole. So much for modesty blush . I can't see anything externally, however, it feels like a huge pimple.  It took up residence about a week ago and today when I pressed on it the area began to itch.  Abcess developing?  I've been fortunate to have never had one of these lovely things nor a fistula!  I don't feel it's an ingrown hair because I would be able to see some irritation externally.  If it is an abcess...what should "begin" doing now to keep it from getting worse and how long before / or should I call the GI?

Other news...just had my colonoscopy about 2 weeks ago and everything "looks" normal.  smilewinkgrin Hmmm...I wonder if I had some tissue damage there that could have caused my afore mentioned visitor? rolleyes   According to my Primary, the Imuran/Humira combo coupled with my genetic tendencies threw my cholestrol off the charts.  However, Crestor has put it back in control. Migraines have increased and depending on the day could be hormonal, sinus, tension in the muscles of my shoulders/neck from the fibro or dang it, even a low pressure coming through!  Grrrrrr! And last but not least I tried to kill myself by ingesting some unidentified form of artificial sweetner the night before last!  I hadn't had to take an anti-spasmotic in months prior to that episode! smhair Over all things are pretty well under control.  Oh yeah and the biggest news is the last kid is almost out of the house!

She announced her engagement to her significant other a few weeks back.  No stress on the wedding....I have until next fall to cover all the details.  She has already had one bridezilla moment on me already.  I told her she's allowed 9 more!

sound feasable.. "irritate me will you!" ill show you whos boss! i think that you will have aleaky visitor soon. maybe soak the broom in witch hazel? ;0)

I don't think you can do anything to keep it from visiting:( but let your doc know...

If it hurts you could do a warm sitz bath...just remember that the warmth may draw it out:( and cause drainage.

Good to see you again. Hope you just picked up splenter from your broom and not something bad down there. Dont be a stranger , come see us more. Take care of yourself....

The only non-Crohn's thing that comes to mind is a possible Bartholin's cyst. I think it would be closer to the vaginal opening, though. Whatever it is, I hope it is scared of your broom, and just disappears.

My mom described an abcess she recently got diagnosed with in almost exactly the same fashion. Except, she let it go having never heard of an abcess before, and it became huge, and very painful. She had to have it drained, and was on antibiotics, and it took her a good 4 weeks to get back to normal. She doesn't have crohn's disease, but got one anyway.

Definitely see the doc right away.

Hey Broom!! Longtime no see, but it is good to see you again. I would suggest soaking in a really hot tub to try to bring it to a head and maybe it will drain so its not so painful. I would also bring this to the doc's attention. Big Hugs!

Sounds like a bartholin gland cyst caused by a fistula. I just had seton placement surgery for that. Two and a half years with this flaring up (fistula, abscess...antibiotics would make it disappear only to reappear when done w/ antibiotics). I had 3 colonoscopies in that time period and it showed nothing in regards to fistula. Mine is a rectal-vaginal fistula. According to my colorectal surgeon those do not show up on colonoscopies or CT scans. They only show up on MRI's. Go to your GI or Gyno and get on cipro or flagyl. I am on Cimzia which is supposed to heal these fistulas, but it has done nothing for it. Helped my other Crohn's issues, but not the fistula. Here's to hoping you feel better soon. Also, those sitz baths with epsom salts help with the abscesses. It will draw them out and get them to drain.

I didn't know I have a bartholin gland...have to google that one! Full tub warm sitz bath with salts sounds good for my fibro too... Thanks Guys & Gals-Gayle

skull  Ohhhhh...I think you guys are right! I suspect my platelet counts are low too.

GI said my blood isn't clotting too great and ran a Lupus test on me prior to the colonoscopy.  Said my rheumy would discuss the results with me next month.  I do know that one of the two tests for the Lupus came back negative.

Sniper-the brooms in the garage...not my "season" you know!  Husband claims it from me draggin my butt across the floor from the fatigue the last couple of weeks! All I know is this better straighten itself out in a matter of a couple of months....wouldn't want to have to miss my big night out on the town! smilewinkgrin

Hi Broom, so good to see you on here! As far as your nether region, I think all the above info is
great, only one more thing to add, and that would be a sebaceous cyst. I get those little charmers
occasionally and boy do they hurt! I guess the best way to find out is see the doc.

BTW, I love what your husband said about *dragging your butt*, if thats the case my butt must be
full of splinters...
