i was diagnosed during a pretty stressful time during my life. did your first symptoms come on during a stressful period or are there people out there that felt perfectly happy and stress free yet still starting to have Crohn's symptoms for the first time.

Yep, my first flare came right after the death of my Mom. Didn't realize it was CD back then, but now we know. I guess if I'm honest there were probably other little flares here and there in my life, but nothing like that first big one.

First flare came on during the best time of my life which ended up turning into the worst time of my life. Life was great at the time of my 1st flare. Had a great job, traveling, just enjoying life couldn't have been happier and then was hit and my life changed forever. Now it sucks!

I had symptoms for a long time.... such as mild pain on my right side. But my first major flare came 2 weeks after I was promoted to a new position at work during our busy season.
Im not 100% sure it was the stress of the new job, but wouldn't be surprised.

It is not uncommon to be first diagnosed during stressful time since stress is a proven trigger for Crohn's disease.

I was diagnosed when my first born was just about
1, although I had had trouble for over a decade. I was a very happy stay at home mom. My mom was also diagnosed when I was 1 (I'm was her only biologic child), she was a happy stay at home mom, who had my grandmother living with us to help her so she wasn't over stressed like most new moms. Just like me, she had had trouble from her early teen years.
In our family, stress is not our friend, but hormones are definitely more the 'trigger' for diagnosis.

Symptoms started during the most stressful time in my life. Diagnosis took 8 years, but stress definitely seems to be what triggered it.

Yep stress did it for me too. I had just graduated high school and just starting my nursing career and then BOOM Crohns hit.

My symptoms started shortly after I started puberty. Imagine all those hormones racing thru your pre-teen body...uggh!
